Before the holidays I received a Samsung VU7000 Motion Sync Bagless Upright Vacuum, which has a Fully Detachable Handheld as well. The VU7000 only takes about 5 minutes to assemble, and requires no tools to do so. Basically you put the detachable vac onto the wand and then put that onto the main vacuum. The vacuum has a 30 inch cord, which I found to be quite sufficient as I was able to reach what I needed to reach with the vacuum without getting an extension cord.
I only found one thing about this vacuum that I didn’t like, so I’ll get that out of the way before I tell you all of the things I did like about it. The single downfall I found with this vacuum is that it has no light. I know a lot of vacuums now don’t have a light. My house doesn’t have the best lighting and I would really like a light built-in to help me see the floors better.

The detachable handheld vac is terrific. It has it’s own motor built in so there’s no need to keep a portable handheld vac charging in the bathroom anymore! And it’s hoseless too! To use the detachable vac you just pull the handheld portion out of the main vacuum. The detachable vac has many uses. It’s ideal for stairs, so you don’t have to lug the main vacuum up and down, stopping every couple of stairs. It’s also great for the crevices in room perimeters, behind the toilet bowl, under the couch, under and around furniture cushions, curtains and drapes, and around the litter box. The handheld vac has accessories built in that make it very easy to clean things like the crevices I mentioned. Plus, since the accessories are built-in there’s nothing to lose!

After having abdominal surgery in early December I had to be very careful about certain activities, and vacuuming was one of them. Once I was finally home and up to moving around I used the VU7000. I found it much easier to move and steer then all of our numerous previous vacuums.
I love the way the VU7000 swivels, making for easy turns and angles. The cambered wheels keep the vacuum on the ground doing it’s job, rather than half up in the air because I’m trying to get it to move or turn around. Swivel steering makes the vacuum exceptionally easy to maneuver. And, at no time did I feel like pushing it was a big effort, most of the time it almost seemed to propel and steer itself wherever I leaned. We have rooms that are entirely carpeted, rooms with area rugs and rooms with bare floors. The Samsung handled them all very well. The roller brush can be turned on and off with the push of a button, depending on whether you want to vacuum carpet or a hard surface.

The VU7000 weighs in at under 18 pounds total. The detachable handheld vac is a part of the main vac when not in use. I didn’t find this made the vacuum overly heavy at all. The vacuum has lightweight, hollow wheels, unlike any other vacuum I’ve used or owned. I can honestly say that in my opinion if someone said the detachable vac made the vacuum much heavier then all they would need to do is push the vacuum to see that it moves effortlessly and that weight really has no bearing on anything.

I’m very happy to say that this vacuum sucks. And I don’t men that in a bad way. If you’ve ever had a vacuum that didn’t pick anything up like I’ve had then you know what I mean. This vacuum picked up everything I tried to pick up, including dirt, cat litter, pet hair, glass and dust bunnies. The VU7000 makes use of Cyclone Force Multi Technology. Basically this means that the nine cyclonic chambers in the vacuum work together to deliver powerful, powerful suction and filter more than 99% of fine dust and debris. The superior separation means filters last longer. One of my favorite features about the vacuum is that it’s bagless. Bags can be expensive, and they can be a real pain to change in some cases. The VU7000 has a see-through container, so you know what’s in there and when it’s time to empty it. The handheld detachable vac is also bagless, and also has a see-through container.
Here’s a brief video from Samsung that demonstrates more clearly how the VU7000 works.
The Samsung VU7000 Motion Sync Bagless Upright Vacuum with Fully Detachable Handheld retails for $449. It comes with a 5 year limited warranty.

I am currently looking to replace my vacuum. It has been smelling very funky lately. I will have to check this one out. I love how easy it looks to move around.

Looks like a really versatile vacuum that allows you to use it as an upright vacuum but easily converts to a handheld. A great all-in-one.

I agree with you a Light is essential and I adore the handheld vac feature for stairs. The cord length matters to me too.

This looks like a great vacuum. We really do a number on our vacuums with 4 dogs in the house so we need a heavy duty, hardy vacuum!
