Nashville Hot Chicken is a Southern staple that has been given new life by the food truck movement. We’re talking about spicy, delicious chicken! The best part? It’s so easy to cook at home with the Ninja Foodi Grill.

Here’s how to make it.

This recipe yields 12-14 Nashville Hot Chicken tenders, which serves 4 nicely.

Equipment Needed

Ingredients

2 lbs boneless skinless chicken tenders 

Marinade Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk 
  • ½ cup dill pickle juice 
  • 3  Tbsp Hot Sauce 

Coating Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour 
  • 1 cup panko 
  • ½ cup cornstarch 
  • 2 tsp salt 
  • 2 tsp paprika 
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder 
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk 
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce 

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. hot sauce 
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar

Instructions

Place the chicken in a large ziploc bag.

Add the marinade ingredients to the bag, then cover and let chill for 4 hours. 

Cover a baking sheet with paper towels. 

Remove the chicken from the marinade and place onto the baking sheet, then set that aside. 

Place the flour, panko, cornstarch, salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder into a small bowl and whisk to combine. 

Place the eggs, buttermilk and hot sauce into a second small bowl and whisk to combine. 

Dredge a chicken tender in the flour mixture, then the buttermilk mixture, then back in the flour mixture. 

Place the chicken back on the baking pan. 

Repeat until all of the chicken tenders are coated and set aside for 20 minutes.

Plug in the Ninja Foodi Grill.

Lightly spray the grill with avocado oil. 

Place the chicken into the Foodi Grill and set to cook at 370 degrees for 8 -14 minutes. 

While the chicken is cooking it’s time to make the sauce.

Place the hot sauce and the brown sugar into a small bowl and whisk to combine. 

Once the chicken is finished cooking, remove it from the Foodi.

Before plating, lightly coat the chicken tenders with the hot sauce you just made.
