Knowing how to execute a perfect napkin fold is not a skill everyone has, but it’s one you can easily and quickly teach yourself. Napkin folds bring a touch of elegance, whimsy or retro style to your table. And napkin folds take your table setting to the next level with no added expense — you’re just learning dozens of clever new ways to present something you already have.

The 100 folds are divided into easy, intermediate and advanced sections, so you’ll know which ones to start with and how to work your way up. Simpler is often better and often the most formal folds, in fact, tend to be relatively easy. And when you’re using napkins with an elaborate pattern or design, a simple fold may show it off the best.

The hundreds of step-by-step photographs, detailed instructions and wide array of ideas will make every event memorable — whether it’s a child’s birthday party or a sophisticated dinner party for grownups. And the concealed wirobound hardcover format with its user-friendly approach makes following instructions a breeze.

Like a handwritten thank-you note, napkins folds might be less common than they once were, but they’re always noticed, always appreciated and always in style.

Have you ever gone to a restaurant, hotel or home and found the napkins folded artistically? Every time I see a napkin animal or something else creative or pretty I have to stop and pause, because they are amazing. I have always wondered how people make them. I got a bit closer look at how they’re made when I received the chance to review the book Top 100 Step-by-Step Napkin Folds.

Chapters in this book include:

  • Napkin Folds 101
  • Easy Napkin Folds
  • Intermediate Napkin Folds
  • Advanced Napkin Folds

The book contains an index in the front with color thumbnails of every napkin design there is. The chapters also contain an index of the tutorials inside. This is fantastic for either finding the design you want or just exploring and deciding what to try next. Napkin Folds 101 is a primer containing some really helpful information if you’re interested in trying napkin folding. This main topic covered in this section is the many different types of napkins, how to select them and when to use them.

The tutorials in the book are all very detailed and easy to understand. Each tutorial comes with step-by-step instructions, complete with a photo for each step. Tips on what specific napkins work best and what designs really make the folds stand out are also included. I’m looking forward to giving these a try. As someone who can barely fold a paper napkin I was pleased to find myself feeling optimistic after going through this book, as the tutorials really do make many of the folds seem possible even for me. This book would be great for anyone who enjoys entertaining, as well as those who just enjoy learning how to do “crafty” things.

Do you see artfully folded napkins and wish you could do that?

I always try to make these fancy folds. Mostly I make a wrinkled mess ;)

I like folds that involve the cup or the wine glass. These are great! Wish I would have thought of something creative like this for our Christmas party.

I'm just the opposite. I don't want something that someone has handled stuck into the thing I'm about to drink out of!
