This year, make a different type of resolution—a resolution to family! Join the thousands of home cooks who already made the commitment to serve at least 100 sit-down meals this year. They know the importance of enjoying dinner as a family, and now they’re sharing their recipes, menus and timesaving tips with you in the exciting new cookbook Taste of Home 100 Family Meals. In addition to main dishes, you’ll also find fast-to-fix sides, no-fuss desserts, breakfast ideas and more—for a total of 358 recipes. Take a look inside this inspiring cookbook and you’ll see how easy it is to share meals as a family. Grab your copy of 100 Family Meals, join other cooks at #100FamilyMeals and start making a difference at your dinner table tonight!

The cookbook opens with a discussion on the “Magic of the Family Meal” and explanation on how to effectively use this particular cookbook. The cookbook closes with the “My Family Meals Journal”, which gives the user the opportunity to jot down which recipes they have tried and when. The chapters in this cookbook include:

  • Conversation Starters
  • Beefy Favorites
  • Chicken and Turkey
  • Pork, Ham and More
  • Seafood and Meatless
  • No-Fuss Salads
  • Simple Sides
  • Easy Soups and Breads
  • Sweet Surprises
  • Odds and Ends

I really like the way the recipes are put together in this cookbook. They’re short, sweet and to the point. Cooking time is clearly highlighted at the top of the recipe, along with icons letting the reader quickly know what type of recipe it is (Eat Smart, 5 Ingredients, Slow Cooker or Fast Fix). The dishes all call for ordinary items you have in your kitchen or can get at your local grocery store. Each recipe also lists a side dish that the recipe would pair well with, which is helpful for meal prep. For those that appreciate extra direction and want to really be organized, there’s meal planning charts for 4 meals included with each chapter. This cookbook would be appropriate for anyone wanting to learn some new dishes that will let you spend more time being with the family instead of working to feed them. If you decide to commit to making 100 family meals over the next year, be sure to use #100FamilyMeals initiative on social media to join in conversation with others that have also made that commitment.

Family meals are important not only for holiday gatherings but for regular tim e together where family shares. Take out, drive by and the like don't encourage sharing. Communication is the cement to good relationships.
