My first mobile phone (early 80’s) was a bag phone–big, heavy, and portable only for Atlas. It is a far cry from Sprint’s recent modern technology releases. These include: LG Nexus 5, a tri-band network google android kitkat smartphone with 4.95 445PPI HD display; LGG2, a slim android smartphone with 5.2″ 1080P display and 13MPO hi-res camera; Samsung Galaxy 3, a 4.8 HD super AMOLED touch screen android paired with Jelly Bean and All Share technology.

I must digress. As a kid I faithfully read Gould’s comic book Dick Tracy. A generation later, who but me would buy my firstborn her own Moon Maid for her very first Christmas. I always yearned to own the ultimate gadgetry back then, a Dick Tracy 2-way wrist radio. My father, the man of the house, forbade it citing the fact I was a girl. He would have been far better to tell me that it still had not been invented. Bah humbug to him! When I got my first glimpse of Galaxy Gear, I was like a child again. I long for this wrist accessory (far better than just a mere radio because of all its features). Its bluetooth, 4 GB memory, 800 MKz processor, 1.9 mega pixel camera, and 1.63″ touchscreen display are not just boy toys. Girls deserve equal rights.

The times are constantly changing. Tools and resources are available for the asking to manage children’s technology usage and develop more internet safety. I remember my own boys’ cell usage getting so out of control that I locked their cell phones in the safe UNTIL they paid their bills. It took a while. Too bad that better ways to teach cell phone responsibility weren’t around then. I appreciate the sense and sensibilities and the options for Sprint portfolio of no-contract brands including Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, and Assurance Wireless.

I have been a loyal Sprint customer for more than a decade. Still I’m not a savvy know-it-all. Because I always want to learn more, I immediately accepted Sprint’s invitation to its NYC Executive Briefing Center for hands on demonstrations and one on one time with reps truly in the know about different services, different products, and the newest innovative technology, service, and apps. Now come contract renewal time, I can make an informed decision on what best suits my needs.
