Snikiddy Snacks

We are big snackers in our house. It can be hard to find snacks that taste good that are also safe for my youngest, who has Celiac disease and is supposed to remain on a gluten-free diet. Crunchy snacks are always a hit, but they aren’t necessarily the healthiest thing to eat. Just in time for American Heart Month, we recently we had the opportunity to try some cholesterol-free snacks from Snikiddy. Snikiddy Snacks offers several types of products including Baked Fries, Cheese Puffs and Eat Your Vegetables.

Baked Fries are a crunchy, baked french fry shaped snack. They are very crunchy and very flavorful. Baked Fries come in several flavors including:

  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Sea Salt
  • Barbeque
  • Original Seasoning
  • Bold Buffalo
  • Hot & Spicy

I fell in love with the Baked Fries. They reminded me of a product that was out when I was a child but tasted far better then that one. The fries are made with non-GMO potatoes and corn. They’re crisp and crunchy and loaded with flavor. My favorite flavor by far, as in it was in the lead by ten miles, was the Sea Salt. That bag was gone within two days. The Baked Fries are better for you then chips, having approximately 50% less fat then regular potato chips. I love knowing that these yummy snacks are certified gluten-free and safe for my son. They are also cholesterol free and contain no MSG. For those concerned about food allergies, they are made in a facility that does not manufacture any products containing peanuts or treenuts.

Snikiddy also makes Cheese Puffs. The Cheese Puffs come in two flavors:

  • Grilled Cheese
  • Mac n’ Cheese

The Cheese Puffs are also crunchy, something I consider a must when it comes to cheese puffed snacks. The flavor is on the mild side and tasty. I can’t say that they honestly taste like mac and cheese or grilled cheese but I can say the unique flavors are good. I’m hoping they come out with a couple more flavors, maybe a cheddar and a sour cream and onion. Again, as with the Baked Fries, the snacks are certified gluten-free. They are made with non-gmo corn, and contain no trans fats or MSG. They are also made in a facility that does not manufacture any products containing peanuts or treenut.

Eat Your Vegetables is the newest line of Snikiddy snacks. They haven’t been out very long, debuting in the second half of 2013. These chips are made with kale, contain no MSG, and are gluten-free. They contain a full serving of veggies in every ounce. None of us care for kale so I can’t say how these tasted, but I did give them to a friend who said they were tasty and crunchy.

I have not heard of the Snikiddy Snacks before but as a mom with a newly diagnosed Type II diabetes daughter, I will check them out for her.
