REVIEW – Wish-Bone New Salad Dressing Flavors – With Recipe For Open-Faced Bruschetta Salad Sandwiches

We'd love it if you shared it!

Wish-Bone 2011 New Dressings

One of RB’s most favorite things to eat is salad. He eats salad as a meal often. I like to bring him home different types of salad dressing, so he can mix things up a bit. He’d pretty much tried all of the flavors he was interested in trying when Wish-Bone introduced four more.

ABOUT WISH-BONE’S NEW SALAD DRESSING FLAVORS

DATELINE – It’s a new year, and with it come resolutions to eat more veggie-rich meals. Now, thanks to Wish-Bone®, going greens just got a whole lot tastier!

Introducing four sophisticated new dressing flavors from Wish-Bone: Greek Vinaigrette, Bruschetta Italian, Superfruit Berry Vinaigrette and Mediterranean Italian.

“As the new year kicks into gear, the trend toward eating well-balanced meals bursting with fruits and vegetables is gaining a greater foothold among Americans,” said Sandra Woodruff, MS, RD, LD/N, nationally known dietitian and best-selling author of many books on nutrition. “With flavorful dressings tossed into the mix, eating greens and vegetables becomes a pleasure, not a chore.”

The four new Wish-Bone dressings are great on greens, but they also go beyond the salad bowl, as marinades for meats, vegetables and fruits:

· Greek Vinaigrette, made with feta cheese and ripe black olives

· Bruschetta Italian, inspired by the classic appetizer and made with sun-ripened tomatoes and sweet basil

· Superfruit Berry Vinaigrette, with berry and pomegranate juices

· Mediterranean Italian, made with feta cheese and a refreshing squeeze of lemon

Not only has Wish-Bone enhanced its dressing offerings, it has also changed the bottles they come in. The new bottle has up to 20 percent less plastic than the previous one, so there is less impact on the environment while delivering the same amount of delicious taste.

MY THOUGHTS

We received samples of three of the flavors – Bruschetta Italian, Superfruit Berry Vinaigrette and Mediterranean Italian, as well as a very cool salad spinner and salad storage container. I really liked the Bruschetta Italian – it’s my favorite. It’s flavorful and versatile. I marinated some chicken with it. I made some pasta salad with it, and was really pleased at the difference in taste over regular Italian dressing. I want to try it in a beef dish next. RB has always enjoyed Greek flavor, so it wasn’t a big surprise to me that his favorite was the Mediterranean Italian. He loved it on some salads that he prepared and is planning on using it to prepare some fish once grilling season starts next month. We haven’t tried the Superfruit Berry for anything other than a simple salad yet. I was surprised at what a different taste it had and gave the salad. I love berries and liked the subtle berry flavor with the zing of the vinaigrette.

The new flavors come in a 16-ounce size, in addition to an 8-ounce size for Greek Vinaigrette. They are available nationwide and sell for a suggested retail price of $2.89.

I really want to try the Mediterranean Italian. I hadn't seen these new flavors. Usually my kids want ranch or I buy Italian. This would be a nice treat.
