I like to check out new shows when the firs come out. If I don’t catch the first episode or two it is likely I will not watch the show, because I hate the idea of not knowing the whole story. This past fall I heard about a new show on ABC called Resurrection. I missed the premiere episode. I saw that it was available to watch online, which is something I generally don’t do. I made an exception for Resurrection, and boy am I glad that I did.
Resurrection puts you into thinking mode from the very first episode. In this episode we watch a little boy named Jacob wake up in a rice field in China. He doesn’t belong there. US Immigrations agent Martin (Epps) is assigned the job of going to get Jacob in China and bringing him back to the USA. There is a complication though – Jacob doesn’t seem to speak. Martin is finally able to determine that Jacob is from a small Missouri town called Arcadia and sets on his way to return Jacob there. Upon their arrival in Arcadia, Martin goes to Jacob’s house and is informed by the child’s parents (Kurtwood Smith and Frances Fisher) that their son had died more than thirty years earlier. When they see Jacob they are stunned, as Jacob looks like Jacob had as a little boy. Jacob is brought to the hospital for testing and to return him to full health, and it is determined by DNA that Jacob is in fact Jacob. Shocking right? Wait, there’s more! Jacob isn’t the only one. As the short season (eight episodes) progresses, more people return to Arcadia from the dead! Viewers learn more and more about the people that have returned as well as their families. You really have to watch it to understand all of the nuances and plot twists.
Here’s the trailer for the show’s series premiere.

This show is one of those shows that seems to be meant to be watched as part of a weekend marathon on the couch. I highly recommend you pick it up and do just that!
It has been announced that the show was renewed for a second season. There’s no date for the season 2 premiere yet so be sure to check check the website or Facebook. I know that whenever it is, I got hooked during the first episode and I’ll be watching!

Have you seen Resurrection yet? What did you think? Please leave a comment, I’d really like to know!

I've seen lots of commercials for this show and it sounds really intriguing. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I probably will catch it at some point. Good to know DVD is now an option.
