I love my puppy Dobby. He’s five months old today. He’s still teething, and the teeth he has are very, very sharp. I don’t like it when he play bites. If you put anything near his mouth he thinks it’s a toy and starts to play. Getting a toothbrush in there would only succeed if I were trying to give it to him as a snack. Quite frankly, while I know that dogs do need dental care, it isn’t happening here at the present time. So you probably can understand why I accepted the opportunity to try something new – Milk-Bone® Brushing Chews™.

The folks at Milk-Bone let me know that despite veterinarians’ recommendations for pet owners to practice regular brushing at home and schedule periodic professional teeth cleanings for their pets, more than 80 percent of dogs develop periodontal disease by 3 years of age, according to the American Veterinary Dental Society. Clearly at the present time I fit into that demographic.
I received samples of the mini and small/medium varieties of Milk-Bone Brushing Chews. We started with the mini, which turned out to be the best size for Dobby right now.

Milk-Bone® offers people like me an easy and affordable way to help keep our dog’s teeth clean. They look a lot like dog treats, and are shaped like a little dog bone. They don’t feel like a dog treat though. Milk-Bone Brushing Chews are pretty hard to the touch. They have little bumps and grooves on the surface. Minis are intended for dogs over six months old that weigh 5-24 pounds. The small/medium size are intended for dogs over six months old that weigh 25-74 pounds.

Dobby really enjoys the Milk-Bone brushing Chews. To him they’re just a treat, something he gets for being a good boy. He has no idea that they’re good for him or the health of his mouth. He only knows that they’re treats and they taste good. Most days one treat lasts him about 6-7 minutes.

Milk-Bone® Brushing Chews are intended to be given to your dog once a day. Stats from Milk-Bone show that when fed daily, Milk-Bone® Brushing Chews™ are clinically proven to be as effective as brushing a dog’s teeth twice per week based on reduction of tartar build-up and bad breath. Our pets do a lot for us. I’d say a treat a day was well worth the time and effort, considering it will help your pet’s health.
