I received a Target gift card to purchase LISTERINE® Brand products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the LISTERINE® 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

Almost a month ago I began the Listerine 21-Day Oral Health Challenge. I started off the challenge with the realization that I had to do better in taking care of my teeth, because I did not enjoy all of the dental work I had to have done last year and would like to do what I can to avoid a repeat. I also mentioned my 18 year old son’s teeth, and the fact that I’d like him to do a better job all around caring for them since they’re the only ones he’s going to get.
We used the LISTERINE® WHITENING® Original Gel Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste. By the end of first day I had confirmation I had not been brushing enough. Brushing in the morning and at night is all well and good but I needed to be doing it more. I need to brush in the morning and at night and after each meal. I really like this toothpaste. I prefer gel toothpaste, and I like a minty flavor, which I find this to have. I have never had a ton of cavities but my son went through a period where he had a bunch. I am happy to use a flouride anticavity toothpaste if it will help avoid the possibility of having to have my teeth drilled.
We started the challenge with LISTERINE® Ultraclean Antiseptic in the Fresh Citrus variety, as that is the only antiseptic mouthwash my oldest son doesn’t mind using. It’s fine, but I found that I really missed my minty clean fresh feeling, so I went back to the store at the end of the first week and got a bottle of the Cool Mint, which I love. I discovered that I need to be using the antiseptic every time I brush, where I’d only previously used it in the morning. Same goes for the Smart Rinse, which I’d never used before. now I will be honest, four products is a lot to use at one time. I would love it (and so would my bathroom counter) if Listerine made an antiseptic flouride rinse combo so I could just get down to one bottle on the edge of my sink.
We used REACH® Floss for the challenge. We discovered that my son hated flossing before the challenge and still did at the end. I have no doubt he skipped it most days. I have no problem flossing but do prefer the Reach Access Flosser thingey because it’s much easier to get to certain parts of my mouth with it as opposed to the regular kind of floss. I’m going back to using that now that the challenge is over.
You can find all of the Listerine products that I used and many others at your local Target.
Don’t forget, there’s still time to help kids in need by submitting your own Swish Selfie! In case you missed that part, for every person who posts a “Swish Selfie” to the LISTERINE® Brand Facebook page., LISTERINE® Brand will make a $5.00 contribution to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America® program, up to $85,000, toward their goal of connecting 210,000 children with needed oral health services in 2014. Plus, you have a chance at winning $500 for yourself! The contest ends on April 27.

I like flavors that are not too intense but still leave my mouth feeling fresh and clean.
