Instant Pot Double Chocolate Cake is a dense, chocolate cake that can be made in under an hour. You won’t believe how easy this cake is to make, or how moist it is! What really takes the cake is that you don’t have to use an oven to make this cake, making it perfect for entertaining during any time of the year including summer. electric pressure cooker (I used a 6 qt Instant Pot)
7″ bundt pan (I used a Nordic Ware 6-cup bundt pan)
Ingredients
• 1 box chocolate cake mix (I used Betty Crocker Butter Recipe Chocolate)
• 3/4 cup Cherry Dr Pepper (or Cherry Coke if you prefer or have that on hand)
• 3/4 cup oil
• 4 eggs
• ¼ cup chocolate chips
• powdered sugar, optional for topping when serving
• nonstick cooking spray
• 1 cup water

Instructions
Place 1 cup of water into the pot.
Place the cake mix into a medium sized mixing bowl.
Add the soda and oil to the bowl and mix thoroughly.
Add the eggs into the bowl one at a time, stirring to combine in between each.
Add in the chocolate chips and stir.
Spray the bundt pan with noncooking spray.
Pour the cake mixture into the bundt pan.
Place the bundt pan onto the trivet and place them both into the pot.
Place the lid onto the pressure cooker and close to seal.
Cook on manual high pressure for 45 minutes.
Do a quick pressure release.
Let cool for a short while or serve immediately with or without powdered sugar.

I don't understand where the silicone vegetable steamer comes in. Are you using that in place of the metal trivet that came with the instant pot? Is there a reason NOT to use the metal trivet that I'm missing?

The silicone vegetable steamer has handles that the stainless rack does not. It's really hard to get a cake out without handles. Alternatively you can use the stainless rack and put a thick piece of foil underneath the pan in order to get the cake out.

I had the same issue as everyone else. It overfilled into the instant pot and was still raw.

Thanks for trying the recipe. I've only had one person mention they had an issue with it, their pan was a slightly smaller size. I have made this cake in classes noless than 6 times and never had an issue, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work for you.

I have a 7" x 4" bundt for my 6 qt. IP. . . the amount of batter in this recipe is too much for this size pan and this ran all over inside my pot and came out like lava cake. . . you need to adjust the amount of batter for different size pans in your directions.
The cake itself is delicious and will most likely try again, using less batter in my pan.

The pan listed in the recipe is a bundt that measures 8.4" x 2.9". I appreciate the suggestion.

When it comes to sweets, I am not a candy person, but I love some good chocolate. This sounds like the perfect chocolate cake!

Made this recipe just now and followed recipe exactly. Cake was undercooked and cracked all around the sides. I'm hoping it will taste OK even though it didn't come out very pretty. Maybe it'll be like a lava cake?!?!

What a cool way to bake a cake! This is really awesome. I'd love to give it a try especially since the cake turned out really lovely!
