Inexpensive Holiday Gift Ideas From Better Homes And Gardens

Shopping on a budget can be really tough. It can be hard to find nice gifts that are inexpensive. I was recently challenged by Better Homes And Gardens to find gifts in the $5, $10 and $20 price ranges. I like a good challenge, so I accepted and set off to my local Walmart. Here’s what I found.
HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS IN THE $20 PRICE RANGE

Better Homes and Gardens Henry 3-Opening Photo Frame – $17.47
One of my brothers loves to take pictures. He recently moved into a house and is expecting a baby in the spring. What better gift then a lovely frame where he can display photos of the family. This frame had a nice, smooth mahogany finish with gold trim. It holds three 3.5″ x 5″ photos and can be hung on the wall in portrait or landscape position. My brother likes darker wood so these will be a great fit. If they had been available in an oak color I’d totally keep them for myself.

Better Homes and Gardens Printed Quilt & Tote – $19
Here’s a great gift idea for anyone that likes to picnic, or is into a country decorating style – quilts. Quilts can be so pretty. Besides being used on a bed they can be used for things like beach trips and picnics, or even decorating a wall. They’re a good value because they’re machine washable, and come in a variety of patterns. They even come with a tote to carry them in!

Better Homes and Gardens 5×7 Family Scroll Picture Frame – $6.96
This makes a great gift for anyone, especially folks that are into modern decorating that showcases photography and family. It’d also make a great gift for folks that spend a lot of time at a desk, sprucing the work space up a bit and giving them something personal to look at. The frame holds a 5 x 7 photo and has a built-in easel that you can use in portrait or landscape position.

The really cute candle with shade above is something I saw in a flyer. The scented candle comes available with a Holiday Sentiments Shade and sells for $8.96. Unfortunately they didn’t have them in my store. I did find the next item while in that department though.

Better Homes and Gardens Candle – $5.97
These jar candles make a great gift. They’re very affordable and come in cute canisters, and boy do they smell great! I found a ton of yummy smelling scents including Strawberry Cheesecake, Cinnamon Apple Pie and Blueberry Muffin. I will be fighting the urge not to keep these for myself.

I myself am not big on holiday specific dishes because we don’t have the space to store a third set of dishes but I know many people really enjoy them. If you know someone that really enjoys celebrating the holidays, you could use one or more of any one of these lovely holiday tableware items.

THE $5 PRICE RANGE
Wondering what you’d do with a $5 gift? Lots of things. Teaching staff, secret santa, gift exchanges, giving trees at Church – there are countless things you can do with a $5 gift. I found some nice items that would make wonderful holiday gifts including glass jar candles and other candles and accessories, as well as mugs and more. But in the end I thought it would be fun to go in an entirely different direction.

Now I know what you’re thinking – those items are either more then $5 or add up to more then $5. This is true. BUT! I had a ton of ideas for this stuff. Here’s my favorite. There were 12 jars in the box of mason jars. You could add either a homemade baking mix or homemade preserves to each jar, accompanied by a lid cover, recipe card, and gift tag. You know have 12 gifts for about $2 each, less if you don’t include the price of whatever you put in the jar. Put the jars in the caddy and deliver them by hand, the recipient will appreciate the personal delivery and the gifts will be much easier to transport in the caddy. Sorry I don’t have a picture of my final gift jars yet, I haven’t figured out exactly what I’m putting in them yet.
I was very pleased with the wide assortment of really nice looking products available at reasonable prices that would all make terrific gifts.
