ABOUT SEOULTOWN KITCHEN
Many people know Debbie Lee from her stint on “The Next Food Network Star” as the queen of Seoul 2 Soul. She wowed judges and fans alike with her culinary concoctions that reflected her cross-cultural life growing up as a Korean-American girl. Others may know Debbie from her wildly popular food truck Ahn-Joo, which means “pub snacks” in Korean. And, this fall, everyone will have the chance to experience her culinary wonders in the comforts of their own homes when she shares her recipes and cooking secrets in her new book Seoultown Kitchen: Korean Pub Grub To Share With Family & Friends.
“When I decided to write my very first cookbook I wanted to share the first part of me, and that is being Korean.” says Lee, who is often referred to as “the femals David Chang.” “Growing up in the 1970s, I thought I needed to hide my heritage and culture. It was not until my 40th birthday, coming off the Food Network show, that I was proud of who I am and where I come from. I realized that my homeland had some of the most amazing traditions, culture, and most of all food.”
In Seoultown Kitchen, Lee brings the flavors, smells, textures, and traditions of her favorite aspect of Korean culture: “pub grub.” These delicious-and simple-recipes allow anyone to bring these Asian “small plates” to the table. Debbie takes the fear and mystery out of Korean cooking by making the recipes user friendly and illustrating how similar the Korean palate is to our American palate.

The recipes in the cookbook are easy to understand. They do contain prep and cooking time, which is a must in my opinion. Many of the recipes do contain a photo. This cookbook would be perfect for anyone interested in learning about Korean cuisine, as well as make a great gift fort those that enjoy cooking and learning recipes from other cultures.
