I love pizza. One of the things that makes pizza so popular is that it’s easy to find. But, good pizza isn’t always easy to find. I like good pizza. But I am the first to admit that I don’t like to pay full price for it. So, I generally only buy it if I find a good deal. Restaurant.com is a great way to get a deal on meals, including pizza.

Recently I decided to take my Mom, along with my brother, his wife and son to a casual meal. Wanting to be sure to find something that appealed to everyone, I decided a pizza shop would work well for us. Using the Restaurant.com app I looked up what pizza restaurants were in our area that had deals and found Holiday City Pizza & Italian Restaurant. The deals available that day were:

  • $10 Certificate | Your Price $4.00
  • $15 Certificate | Your Price $6.00
  • $25 Certificate | Your Price $10.00

We were eating a pretty late meal, arriving at just after 8:30pm.

The restaurant closed at 9, so things were on the quiet side. The restaurant offers a good number of small square tables where you can sit and enjoy your meal. Or you can get your order to go as well. We were staying so pushed to tables together. It didn’t take long to decide what we wanted to eat. I was getting two pies to eat there, and also two sandwiches to bring home to other family members.  The young man behind the counter was extremely helpful and started working on our order right away.

It wasn’t long before two gorgeous pies were delivered to our table. It may have only taken ten minutes. Just before our pizzas were brought out they brought us out some plates.

The Meat Lovers Pie came out first. I may have started drooling when it was placed in front of me. It tasted even better than it looked. This meat lovers pie had sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, bacon and ham. I am always disappointed to see pizzas with scant amounts of toppings. Eight pieces of pepperoni on a large pie is just sad and inexcusable. The amount of meat on this pizza was generous, each piece contained some of each of the toppings. The crust had the right thickness and was soft and chewy.

The plain cheese pizza came out next. As had been the case with the meat lovers pie, the crust was great. Holiday City Pizza’s crust is not too thin or too thick. It’s cooked to the point where it’s done and soft, but not overdone and dry. The sauce was flavorful. This pizza had a good amount of cheese. The cheese was ooey gooey the way I like it.

We had one slice of the Meat Lovers and three slices of the plain left. The staff offered us a box to put the leftover pizza in to bring home. At that same time the two sub sandwiches I’d ordered were brought over to the table.

I’d ordered a cheesesteak (with no cheese) for my Dad. It smelled great, and had lots of peppers and onions.

I’d ordered a plain cheesesteak (no peppers and onions) for my oldest. The bread here was also lightly toasted. My son had to reheat his when he finally got to it. He enjoyed the sandwich, but would have liked to see a little more cheese on it (something that’s easily enough to accomplish).

Along with pizza and cheesesteak, the Holiday City Pizza menu also has hot and cold subs, wraps, baked pasta dishes, and entrees with chicken, veal and seafood.

I was very pleased with our meal at Holiday City Pizza. The food was tasty and the service was good. I will gladly return there in the future.

When you go to a pizza shop, what’s your favorite kind of pizza or sub?

Yum! I saw this pizza on your Instagram feed and thought it looked delicious! I like cheese or cheese with jalepeno or banana peppers best!

I love white pizza--hard to find; also loaded Sicilian if the crust is crispy--also hard to find. I settle for red with anchovies on the side.
