New Fresh Berry and Toasted Almond Salad with Chicken At The Habit

It’s the dog days of summer and neither hubby or me has the inclination or energy to slave over a hot stove. Drive thru fast food doesn’t do it for us. Same old fast food caloric content, trans fats leaves a bad taste in these old mouths.

We want food fresh – less need to worry about food poisoning. So we are off to The Habit Burger Grill where health and nutrition matter. Food is not frozen, prepared to order, and rare is rare. Plus, choices abound – burgers,sandwiches, salads, kids menu, sides, frozen treats.

Hubby asks, “Where’s the beef?”

I respond, “Wrong place, honey. We’re doing West Coast fast casual – lots of food, lots of choices, lots of taste.” Then I point to the menu overhead. Its made to order list includes burgers, chicken, tuna, steak, and veggie sandwiches; garden, chicken, cobb, caesar, super food and NEW Limited Time Only Fresh Berry and Almond Salad; french and sweet potato fries, onion rings, tempura green beans; budget, nuggets, and grilled sandwich kids meals; shakes, cones, malts, and sundaes.

I am adventurous so I order the Fresh Berry and Toasted Almond Salad with Chicken along with sweet potato fries.

Hubby is predictable so he orders a double char burger (two chargrilled beef patties, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, caramelized onions, pickles, sans mayo on a toasted bun) as well as french fries.

We stop at the drink, pickle, and condiment stations then head to a table. No sooner have we sat down than our custom built quality food made to order is ready. Served while still hot, its aroma tickles our noses; its taste tickles our pallets. Time to bite in.

I can’t finish, there’s so much salad! Doggie bag, please. I want to take the rest of this tasty salad home!
