If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you might recall that over the winter I posted a Potsticker Soup recipe. I’d made it one day when I was in the mood for wonton soup. I hadn’t had wontons so I’d used Crazy Cuizine Potstickers. The soup was delicious and so easy to make. Crazy Cuizine makes other things besides potstickers.

The Crazy Cuizine line of products includes beef, 4 types of chicken, and 2 types of Potstickers. Crazy Cuizine products are available in the frozen aisle at select Costco locations and BJ’s Wholesale Clubs across the country as well as at Albertsons, Ralphs, Food for Less, Raley’s, SaveMart and Lucky Supermarkets throughout California and the Pacific Northwest.

This past week we had the Mandarin Orange Chicken. Mandarin Orange Chicken is a lightly-battered, sliced chicken breast in a Mandarin orange sauce. The chicken is frozen and comes in a bag, with the sauce packet separate. The chicken is easy to make, you cook it on the stove or in the oven. It takes 15-20 minutes to cook, depending on how you choose to cook it. There are no instructions for microwaving. I cooked ours in the oven.

Once the chicken is done you add the sauce and serve it with your favorite side. I served ours with orange rice. I love that the chicken, even though it is breaded, is moist and tender. I could actually easily eat it without the sauce. The orange flavor is mild yet tasty, similar to something you would find in a Chinese restaurant.

Crazy Cuizine Mandarin Orange Chicken

Crazy Cuizine uses all-natural white meat chicken. The ingredients used in their dishes are U.S. sourced and the dishes are made at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Southern California, which has received four consecutive “Gold” standard awards for food safety and quality practices by Silliker. We find the taste of the chicken to be very good. This is a great item to keep in the freezer for those nights where you need a little help pulling dinner together. While it doesn’t take forever to cook, I can’t say it’s exceptionally quick because you do have to turn on the oven to cook it. I like knowing that along with being high in protein, it is free of preservatives, trans-fat and MSG. If you like to keep some frozen entrees on hand like I do, this one is definitely worth checking out. You can combine it with some other things and have your own Chinese take-out meal without the expense of real take-out.

I've never heard of this brand before, but definitely one to look for. We rarely go out to Chinese food since I'm the only one who likes it, so this would be a great way to get my fix!

How does it stand against restaurant entrees?

For Patricia who asked how it stands against restaurant entrees: My son prefers it to Panda Express's orange chicken which is very popular among their customers and which used to be his favorite orange chicken. In other words, Crazy Cuisine's Orange Chicken compares very favorably to restaurant entrees, being actually better than some restaurants' orange chicken entrees. In our opinion, it is a restaurant-quality entree.
