(Photo from Comfort Suites website. It was getting dark when we arrived and I forgot to take one the next day.)
A few weeks ago we took a family trip to Hershey, PA. We needed an affordable play to stay that could accommodate all six of us comfortable. I went onto the Choice Hotels site and did a search of hotels in the Hershey area. The site is very easy to use and very helpful. It contains pricing and availability for all Choice Hotel brands including Cambria Suites, Clarion, Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Econo Lodge, MainStay Suites, Quality, Rodeway Inn, Sleep Inn, and Suburban. Many of the listings included details on the rooms and photos of the property, making it much easier to make an educated decision. It only took a couple of minutes to find that the Comfort Suites in Grantville, PA was just the type of place we were looking for. A few more minutes and we were booked for two nights.
Comfort Suites in Grantville is very close to Hershey. The hotel was under ten minutes from Hershey Park, ZooAmerica, Hershey Gardens, Hershey’s Chocolate World and the outlet mall, as well as numerous other local attractions. There are also a number of restaurants in the area. The hotel was off a main highway and had ample parking all around the building. The staff at the front desk were friendly and got us checked in right away. Then we went up to our room.

The view from our room was lovely, allowing us to look out over the mountains of the region. I had booked a one room suite. It was a decent sized room with two beds and a sofa sleeper.

The suite was clean and well maintained. I liked that the sofabed actually creates a small living room. I don’t know about you but I have traveled and stayed in rooms that had few or no chairs. I don’t like to constantly sit on my bed, so the sofa is quite welcome. The table and chairs is also a great touch.

As with all suites in the hotel, ours had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, and cable television. We didn’t take advantage of them on this trip but it was nice to know that the hotel has laundry facilities on the property. I love the convenience of having a fridge in the room when traveling. It means my youngest can have milk before bed. And. I hate going out to eat and having leftovers that I can’t bring with me because they’ll spoil. It seems like such a waste. The fridge gives a place to store those leftovers, which you can easily heat up in the microwave. No wasted food, no wasted money!

Ensuring fun isn’t limited to activities outside of the hotel, the Comfort Suites in Grantville has an indoor heated pool, a recreation and game room, and a fitness center. There is also an on-site business center on property that has a computer and access to copy and fax services for the folks traveling for business.
There are two amenities that Comfort Suites in Grantville offers that I really appreciated. One is free high-speed internet access. The other is free breakfast. Now when I say free breakfast I don’t mean a continental breakfast. I mean a real full breakfast.

Some of the foods served at our hotel for breakfast included eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, danish, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal and more.

Beverages include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and milk.

There’s even a waffle maker!

There’s a nice variety of foods there. As food runs low more is brought out to replace it. You can eat as much as you like. A tip on breakfast. It does get pretty busy in there, since it’s such a great value. Go early to ensure a seat.
There’s a lot of things to do in the Hershey area. At the end of a busy day it’s great to know there’s a place that can serve as a home away from home that doesn’t require you taking out a second mortgage.
Comfort Suites is located at 450 Station Road, Grantville, PA, US, 17028. Rates start at under $100 per night and go up depending on when you’re traveling and what type of room you want. Travelers can make reservations online or by telephone.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Comfort Suites in Grantville. You remember the story I shared with you back in July about our vacation gone bad? We get a bit nervous when traveling ever since that happened. I am so pleased to say that nothing crazy happened during our stay at the Comfort Suites in Grantville. When I shared that story I also mentioned the Choice Hotels #VacayGoneCrayCray contest, where travelers were encouraged to submit their own travel stories for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000. All of the entries were collected and the winner should be announced shortly. Be sure to watch www.vacaygonecraycray.com to see who wins!
What sort of features do you look for in a hotel when you’re traveling with your family?

This is part of a partnership with Choice Hotels. The hotel I chose was entirely my own. Please note that, as always, any personal opinions reflected in this post are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

I love rooms that have refrigerators and microwaves because you can warm up your leftovers from all the different restaurants we always go to.

Looks like a great place to stay. We live only a couple hours from Hershey Park and never stay in the area.
