I have been trying to come up with some quick and easy meals. This one comes in at just under 20 minutes. It’s simple and tasty and filling. Serve a side of garlic bread with it and you’re good to go. Here’s how I made it.

Quick And Easy Cavatelli With Broccoli

  • 1x 13 oz box frozen chopped broccoli
  • 13 oz frozen cavatelli
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Cook the cavatelli in boiling salted water.

While cavatelli is boiling (actually while the water is coming to a boil) cook broccoli about 3/4 of the way.

Simmer 2 tbsp garlic and 6 tbsp olive oil.

Drain broccoli and add to the garlic and olive oil.

Add 2 tbsp garlic powder and stir well.

Combine the broccoli mixture with the cavatelli and stir well.

Serve immediately with salt and pepper to taste.

I’m going to have to try this! We love making alfredo from scratch using cream cheese (really easy) or pasta with our new favorite tomato sauce, “Mom’s” sauce. Whole cloves of garlic in that bad boy – sooo good!

I love cavatelli and broccoli. I add a bit of cream and/or cheese to mine to make it more fattening 😉

This would be a great way to get my children to eat broccoli, especially if I added some crumbled bacon! 😀

I think I could get my kids to eat their broccoli this way also as Karen mentioned and what a great addition the bacon would be. YUM!

This looks so scrumptious. I wouldn’t mind having some with a little chicken or shrimp.

Oh wow, that’s so simple, and looks really tasty. I bet this would be a great meal to have my daughter Gaby, who is just learning to cook, make.

Our favorite pasta go-to that’s quick and easy is a large jar of crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano and a few other seasonings, and lots of onion, simmered for about 35 minutes over angel hair pasta with a little freshly shaved Parmesan cheese! Yum!

Funny thing. I opened up the refrigerator minutes ago to prepare the fresh broccoli I asked hubby to put in the shopping cart. He didn’t buy it. Me thinks he does not like broccoli.

What is cavatelli? Is it a type of pasta? It looks a bit like penne.

Kimberly Grabinski June 6, 2014 - 12:10 pm

We have never had that type of noodle before! I am always looking for ways to make broccoli palatable for my kids, this might do the trick!

This looks so good! A sprinkle of parm and I would be in heaven.
