ABOUT THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE 2 MOVIE COLLECTION

The fun begins with “The Emperor’s New Groove,” featuring an all-star cast and Academy Award®-nominated music by Sting (Best Music, Original Song, Sting, 2000). When the young and spoiled Emperor Kuzco (voice of David Spade) is transformed into a llama by his sinister advisor Yzma (voice of Eartha Kitt) and her henchman Kronk (voice of Patrick Warburton), it takes a thoughtful peasant named Pasha (voice of John Goodman) to restore the kingdom and show Kuzco just how much fun it is to be true to yourself.

Then audiences can continue the fun with “Kronk’s New Groove.” The outrageous sequel stars Yzma’s hilarious henchman Kronk in a riotous adventure that’s filled with hysterical mayhem and mishaps. Kronk cooks up a get-rich quick scheme to impress his Dad. But when things go wrong, Kronk kicks into comical high gear and discovers that the true riches in life are his friends and being “true to your groove.”

 MY THOUGHTS

This was the first time seeing The Emperor’s New Groove for me. I enjoyed it very much. In some ways it is not your typical Disney movie, in my opinion. In this movie, a country’s young leader Kuzco is very selfish. His wicked witch like advisor Yzma turns him into a llama, with the assistance of the brawny but less then bright henchman Kronk. Kuzco must find a way to become himself and take back the throne. While on his journey he also must look within himself to find out who he really is.

Kronk’s New Groove isn’t exactly a continuation but does move forward with some of the characters, namely Kronk. Kronk wants a few things in life – to find love, have a successful restaurant and to have the approval of his father. When his father comes to visit, Kronk fears his father will not give him the “thumbs up” of approval that he so desperately desires, so he stages it to look like he’s married and successful. OF course, things go awry, and Kronk will realize what’s actually of importance to him and it may surprise everyone.
