Aruba – One Happy Island With Something For Everyone

I find myself really jonesing for a vacation lately. I don’t mean the annual camping trip, I mean a full-fledged vacation. If I could go anywhere right now it would be somewhere warm and beautiful. Like Aruba. I’ve never been to Aruba but have seen many pictures and heard many great things about it.

I’m a Jersey girl through and through, but let’s face it. When you look at the water at our beaches, they don’t look like the beaches you see in pictures of beautiful, tropical islands like Aruba. Water there just looks pretty, it always looks so blue and clean. Their beaches look absolutely beautiful. I am not a big fan of ocean swimming, but when I see those pictures I want to go in the ocean there. Not only do I want to swim, I want to go ride a horse on the beach, and go parasailing, jetskiing and scuba diving. If you aren’t into water sports, nearby there are more beaches that have crashing waves and limestone coves, overlooked by desert sand. Swimming is not recommended on these beaches for safety reasons, but sightseeing and photography is welcome.

People I know that have gone to Aruba have all mentioned to me that there’s something for everyone. Besides the beaches, there’s shopping, museums, factories, shows, casinos, Indian caves and a historical chapel. There’s golfing, and the Arikok National park where you can hike and sightsee. There are even some stops that the kids are sure to enjoy like the Butterfly Farm, Ostrich Farm and the Donkey Sanctuary. Hungry? There are hundreds of restaurants with cuisine ranging from casual to delicacies such as Caribbean mahi-mahi, wahoo and sushi to specialty dishes from all over the globe. For after hours fun, there are many bars and pubs. The island also is host to many cultural events, sporting events and food and music festivals. Last but far from least, did you know that Aruba has a Carnival season? I had no idea! It starts on November 11 and ends before Good Friday. That’s a long season of fun, music, parades and other ceremonies! There’s a whole story behind it, you can find it on the Aruba travel website along with other info about the island. I love traveling in November, because it’s just getting cold here at home so it’s nice to go somewhere warmer. I think I’d most like to check out the beaches in Aruba, because I could relax if I wanted and do fun activities at the beach as well.
