Pampers Gift Of Sleep

And then this one the next night.

Pampers Gift Of Sleep

Those messages knocked me back 17 years, to when my oldest son was just a baby. We had many sleepless nights for many different reasons, including our son being awake, overdue bills, stress and many others. I worked out of the home back then. When push came to shove, I just let my son sleep with me, just so I could get a few hours of sleep so that I could go to work in the morning. Most days I definitely could have used more sleep. I didn’t mind that my son was there with me, it enabled me to function. What I didn’t especially enjoy was waking up in the middle of the night from time to time with a wet diaper pressed against me. It didn’t feel good on my skin, so no doubt it didn’t feel good on my sons.

Fun fact. By interviewing over 9,000 moms about what was important for their baby, Pampers found the number one unmet need is a diaper that provides superior overnight dryness. Pampers incorporated this firsthand insight, as well as the brand’s deep understanding of baby and baby’s needs, to design a diaper that both mom and baby can count on for up to 12 hours of overnight protection.

Excited about their redesigned products, Pampers challenged me to find a family who could use the “gift of sleep”. What I gave was left up to me, all that I was asked was to try and be creative. It didn’t take me long to decide who I was going to give the “gift of sleep” to. Lara, the friend that posted the Facebook statuses above, REALLY needs the gift of sleep. You see, their 13 month old isn’t their only child. They have a total of five children – one boy and four girls. Oh, did I mention that they have a sixth child on the way? Yep. She’s pregnant and due in the spring. If you’ve had children, you probably remember how tiring pregnancy could be. Put other children into that mix and you have one tired mama. I haven’t even mentioned the fact that she and her hubby have their plate full with other things as well. Ailing parents. Friends with the occasional crisis (including me). It’s a wonder they get any sleep at all.

While texting with Lara, I learned a few things. One child had woken up a couple of times within the past week with a leaky diaper. They hadn’t seen a movie in the theater since Harry Potter, and the last movie they’d watched at home was a year old. I also learned that Brian finds cooking relaxing. I was going to use that to my advantage. I told her I’d be over that night, as I had something for her.

It was to be a night if surprises. Basket in hand, I went on my way. Shortly after my arrival I was given a cupcake. This was no ordinary cupcake. They’d just come from a 3D ultrasound, and had hidden the sex of the baby inside the cupcake. One bite into the moist cupcake and I caught a glimpse of blue filling. YAY! And then it was my turn.

I know that Lara and Brian don’t get out a lot. It’s very hard to find a sitter for five children. So I decided to put together a package of items that would help them relax, unwind and rest. Hopefully, with dry babies in their beds, mommy and daddy could spend a little time unwinding and getting their minds off of things, enabling them to get some rest. I put together a package with a week’s worth of dates inside it.

  • Picnic night
  • Movie night
  • Movie night
  • Ice cream night
  • Coffee night
  • Game night
  • Dinner for two

I gathered up everything I could think of – picnic blanket, picnic basket, popcorn, candy (Hugs and Good N Plenty, both seemed so appropriate), cake pan, apron, Starbucks gift card, grocery store gift card, cake pan, movies (Heat and Couples Retreat, the titles just fit), a game, and Pampers. Oh and mints, because you know you need fresh breath if you’re going on a date. I packaged everything into the picnic basket and went on my way.

I gave Lara and her hubby the picnic basket.

Lara and Brian were thrilled. The Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers would be used almost immediately, in an effort to solve the leaky diaper problem they’d been having. Pampers incorporated what they learned in their recent surveys into the redesigned products, giving us a diaper that both mom and baby can count on for up to 12 hours of overnight protection.I am hoping that soon we’ll see a Facebook status about one of their date nights, or that the young ones made it through the night. Pampers Baby Dry has a longer absorbent area made up of three layers (most brands only have two) designed to provide up to 12 hours of protection. I really hope the picnic basket full helps them relax, destress, and ideally even get some sleep.
