I love music. I listen to it often, and can say that I probably spend more time during the day listening to music than I do watching television. We recently dragged my bicycle out of the shed, as I wanted to be able to ride it. But a bike ride, like a walk or drive, is just better with music. For me if I am trying to do some form of exercise, in this case ride a bike, the music helps keep me going. One might suggest wearing ear buds or headphones during a bike ride. But, that actually may not be the safest thing to do. You see, if you are wearing something that prevents outside noises from reaching your ears, you might not hear the honk of a car horn warning you of something. AfterShokz Bluez 2S wireless headphones are designed to let me hear and enjoy my music while remaining aware of what’s happening in the atmosphere around me.

I received a pair of AfterShokz Bluez 2S wireless headphones in black. The headphones are designed with bone conduction technology. This technology sends the sound waves carrying your music through the bones in your face instead of through your ears. This technology and the OpenFit™ design means that your ears don’t have anything in them, enabling you to hear sounds in the atmosphere around you, such as car horns.

AfterShokz Bluez 2S wireless headphones are very light, weighing in at a mere 1.45 ounces. I have tried many different earbuds over the years and many of them were just a bit uncomfortable for me. I have always found on-ear traditional headphones to be the most comfortable for me. I didn’t know what to expect from the AfterShokz Bluez 2S headphones. I was surprised to find that the quality of the music was excellent, with a wide dynamic range and full, rich bass sound. I had thought that there would be a lesser sound quality than I was used to due to the fact that nothing would be on or in my ears.

I found the AfterShokz Bluez 2S to be a lot less awkward to wear than I expected. The headphones did stay in place without issue. But, there was a small gap between the headphones and the back of my head that I couldn’t close, which did feel a little odd and cause a small change in the volume level. The headphones are not adjustable in that way so if it’s there you just have to learn to adjust to it being there. To compensate for the change in volume caused by the gap I found I could get the volume back by simply repositioning my head.

The AfterShokz Bluez 2S wireless headphones are easy to set up and use. The headphones feature Audrey Says™ voice prompts, which guide users through power, pair, play and talk. Pairing the headphones with my cell phone was effortless and took under one minute to do. The wireless range is 33 feet. The headphones rechargeable lithium ion battery fully charges in just two hours. A full charge provides you with 6 hours of continuous play, or 10 days of standby time. When the battery is running low Audrey Says will let you know by saying “charge me”. Dual noise canceling microphones exclude surrounding noise, making sure the person you are speaking to hears what you are saying.

These headphones would be great for anyone that wants to hear music or audiobooks but also wants to be alert to outside noises, as well as those who just don’t care for on-ear or in-ear sets.
