10 Best Grilling Tools
Grill gloves
By using gloves you’ll avoid burns, splatters and more on your hands and arms. You’ll be able to touch hot utensils, pots, and even skewers to flip them without fear.
Spatula
You can get all kinds of spatulas, from ones with cutting blades on them to the nice plain ones that allow you to easily turn delicate foods such as fish without harming the meat. Make sure to get a spatula with a long handle, particularly if your grill is deeper than your immediate reach.
Tongs
You can’t go wrong with a pair of tongs used for turning small items like shrimp without squashing or piercing the flesh. A sturdy but lightweight pair of tongs with a long handle that’s easy to grip is the best kind to get. When selecting tongs, give them a try in the sore to be sure that your grip can work them correctly.
Digital Thermometer
It’s very important to cook certain foods such as meat to the right temperatures to avoid food poisoning. You can get a digital thermometer that allows you to check the internal temperature of meats that you are cooking, or you could also get a grilling fork with a thermometer in it.
Grill Basket
Grill baskets are especially useful for grilling sliced vegetables, delicate fish, fruit, and other small food that you don’t want to fall through the grill rack.
Basting Brush
Try a silicone basting brush on your meats and veggies. These brushes are useful for letting you slather on sauces and marinades without getting it all over yourself, as well as for reapplying while grilling. Many of these brushes are dishwaher safe.
Skewers
Skewers are a great way to let you combine ingredients, textures and flavors. Plus they make for an appealing look. Wooden skewers are inexpensive, but need to be soaked before use and are only good for one use. If you grill often, invest in a set of metal skewers, which can be reused, require no soaking, and come in a variety of fun shapes and sizes.
Spray Bottle
Many people like to use a spray bottle to tame flare-ups. A spray bottle can also be used to apply more marinade, vinegar or other liquids.
Grill Brush
You’ll need a good grill brush to clean your grill, regardless if it’s electric, gas, or coal. A brush will allow you to easily clean off the grill in order to avoid any burned and charred remnants from getting on your food. Some grill brushes have a scraper as well. The best time to clean your grill is right after cooking. Close the grill and allow it to cook empty for about ten minutes, which will burn off most of the residue, then you can clean it. Keeping your grill clean will make your food taste better and make your grill last longer.
Fire extinguisher
According to the National Fire Protection Association, grills, hibachis or barbecues were involved in an average of
9,600 home fires per year. Every home should have a fire extinguisher in the barbecue area, and you should know how to use it.
