valmg’s Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe

We love garlic bread here. I’ve been trying to get homemade garlic bread right for years. I’ve failed many times and often just buy frozen. This recipe is very easy and turns out pretty well, it’s as good as some frozen if you don’t add the cheese and better if you do.

INGREDIENTS

• 1/2 cup of butter
• 2.5 tablespoons garlic powder
• 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
• 1 baked loaf of crusty bread (like Italian)
• 8 ounces shredded OR 6-8 slices mozzarella cheese

NOTE ABOUT THE BREAD – If you’re making the bread using a packaged loaf like I did I baked the loaf until it had ten minutes left, took it out, sliced it, put the butter mixture on and then put back in to the oven to bake for the final ten minutes.

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350.

Put your butter into a saucepan and heat on medium, melting the butter.

Add the garlic powder and parsley flakes to the butter, stirring.

When all of the butter is melted, turn off and remove the pan from the heat.

If your bread is already cooked, just cut your loaf of bread in half.

Use a basting brush to put the garlic butter mixture onto the bread. Cover every bit of the top of the bread.

Bake for ten minutes on 350.

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese (or place the slices) on the bread and then bake for another five minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Sorry I don’t have a picture of the final finished loaf. By the time I got my camera out the bread had been cut and everyone was eating it. Next time I make it I’ll be sure to get a picture and add it.
