In February when I went to LA for the red carpet premiere of the Disney movie Oz The Great And Powerful I had the pleasure of staying at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, where ABC’s The Bachelorette Ashley & J.P.’s wedding took place.
The Langham Hotel in Pasadena is unique among hotels in Los Angeles, California in that it embraces the legendary traditions of service and luxury of the original Langham grand hotel of 1865 and is set on 23 lush acres overlooking the immaculate suburbs of San Marino. A renowned Pasadena hotel since 1907, the property features 380 guestrooms including 38 suites, eight cottages, world-class dining and an award-winning spa featuring treatments based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The hotel is beautiful, absolutely breathtaking as soon as you arrive. The beauty doesn’t stop when you get out of the car. There are gorgeous, fresh flowers everywhere throughout the hotel.

After checking in I made my way to my room. The room was very spacious. The king size bed was absolutely amazing. It was so comfortable I really didn’t want to get out of it. The room even had an iHome alarm clock, so that I could both carge my phone and wake up to my own music. There was a very comfy big chair near the patio that was perfect for reading. Guest rooms feature an Italian marble bathroom, a flatscreen tv, an honor bar and broadband internet access.

I was greeted by a lovely chocolate welcome, truffles and a bottle of sparkling lemonade. Can you say YUM?!

There was a great view from the balcony of my room.

At night I could see the Oz balloon up close. It was beautiful!

The grounds of the Langham Huntington went for what seemed to be miles and miles. I couldn’t even believe that such a place could be so close to the beautiful residential neighborhood that we drove through on our way in. How could something so enormous be tucked away quietly, away from busy streets? The grounds had a beautiful swimming pool.

There was also a whirlpool, complete with a lift for the handicapped. Having traveled with my Mom who has trouble getting into some pools I appreciated this feature quite a bit.

There are also beautiful gardens.
We offer more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor venues on 23 acres of immaculately landscaped grounds. The exceptional surroundings and endless possibilities ensure a celebration you and your guests will cherish for a lifetime.
The Japanese Garden – A dreamy Japanese-style garden. The terraced ponds fed by gently flowing waterfalls.
The Horseshoe Garden – This extraordinary setting takes you back to the golden age of California with perfectly manicured lawns and palm-studded slopes designed by William Hertich, famed landscape architect of The Huntington Library and Gardens.

The hotel is a giant square. In the center of the square is a quaint little courtyard.
The courtyard has a lovely water fountain.

the courtyard was actually rather peaceful and serene when we toured the facility, as is evident by the duck that just kept on sleeping.

We saw the Viennese ballroom, which was just huge. It’s named for the extraordinary chandeliers made in the 1930s by the same atelier who bewitched the interiors of the fantasy castle of Ludwig II, the Mad King of Bavaria. There are two other ballrooms, the Georgian Ballroom and the Huntington Ballroom.

I had the opportunity to have lunch at The Terrace, which offers “casual alfresco dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner with outdoor seating and picturesque views, serving upscale California comfort food focused on seasonal and sustainable produce and quality ingredients.” I thought that my tomato soup was just the neatest looking bowl of soup I’d ever seen.

Other restaurants on the premises include
The Royce – The restaurant will re-open in March 2013 as a New American Steakhouse, featuring the finest selection of seasonal aged American Prime beef, Australian Wagyu, and Grade #5 Japanese Kobe cuts, including the freshest local and global seafood. The restaurant will feature two wine rooms and an exclusive chef’s table.
The Tap Room – A stylish and inviting space featuring classic and innovative handmade cocktails, an eclectic wine selection, premium beers on tap from around the world and upscale, innovative bar food.
The Lobby Lounge – The Langham’s signature Tiffin at The Langham Afternoon Tea served in an atmosphere of old-world refinement.
The cheeseburger I had from room service was very tasty as well.

Currently the Langham Huntington has a few special offers for guests.

What a gorgeous hotel estate! SO green here. I mean, white. We are still being bombarded by snow yet again today.
Have fun out there!
