Switchcrafted: The Story of the Switch Witches of Halloween
We received Switchcrafted: The Story of the Switch Witches of Halloween, written by Audrey Kinsman with Pam Hatcher  and illustrated by Milena Kirkova. It includes a hardcover book, a witch, and a trick or treat bag. This is the Halloween version of Elf on the Shelf. You open the box to find a very cute witch with a rolled up trick or treat bag and the book place in a sleeve. I tried to get the witch out and it was attached to the box with wire twist ties that were underneath the background so it I had to cut her out so I didn’t ruin the box.

The book is very colorful and creatively written. It goes into a story about witches and how they need candy to help keep their houses warm and to keep the magic happening. So the witches make a deal with all the good girls and boys to switch out their candy for toys. The concept is very very cute. My son who is not allowed to have a lot of sugar said oh mom can I do that, I of course said yes. At the end of the book you can name your witch. Ours of course is named Elsa.

There is one grammar/spelling error that I had to read over again to make sure I wasn’t reading it wrong. “Your Witch is ok with you keeping a few pieces of loot, But eat is all up and she’ll leave nary a neat.” All in all it’s a great story and a very cute way to get kids to not eat so much candy.

How do you limit the amount of candy your children eat at Halloween?

Oh that's easy- my daughter isn't much of a candy eater. She likes cookies but she' doesn't really eat a ton of them either.
