I’ve always loved calzone. I love to experiment with what will go well inside one. I tried it with roast beef and cheese recently and it turned out really well. My oldest loved it and has already asked me to make it again. It’s super easy to put together. Here’s how I made it.
ROAST BEEF AND CHEESE CALZONE
INGREDIENTS
- 1 canister refrigerated pizza crust
- 4-6 slices deli sliced Italian Roast Beef (shaved will work perfectly)
- 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
- butter
- 1/8 – 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 – 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 – 1/4 tsp parsley
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 f.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the pizza crust.
Chop up your slices of roast beef.
Put the roast beef onto the crust. I used approximately 4-6 slices, you can adjust it to your taste,
Place the shredded cheddar on top of that.

Close and seal the crust by folding the top and bottom edges over, and then the side edges over, pinching all edges closed.
Place the dough onto the cookie sheet.
Gently rub a small amount butter on the crust. It should not saturate the crust, it should be a very thin layer. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder and parsley on top of the butter.
Bake for approximately 13-14 minutes, until the dough is turning a golden brown.
Serve immediately. I like it just the way it is, it’s like a big warm closed sandwich. If you’re into dipping you could serve with a cheese dip or a brown gravy.

I'd like to try this using soft ricotta instead of hard cheddar.

Thank you. My daughter was just asking me for an easy but yummy dinner and I happened across your recipe. I love how homemade and easy this is. Calzones are a great go to meal and just a great all around dish to serve with a salad. Yours looks perfect.

I've never attempted calzones at home, but they should be easier than pizza. Same dough and you don't have to worry about it keeping its shape!
