ABOUT THE 150 BEST SLOW COOKER RECIPES SECOND EDITION COOKBOOK
The first edition of The 150 Best Slow Cooker Recipes has 425,000 copies in print and has been an outstanding success. A lot has changed since then, from our tastes and interests in healthier food to a much wider range of slow cookers, so we decided to revisit this bestseller. The result is a sensational slow cooker book that reflects today’s home cook.
This updated and revised edition features nearly 100 of your original favorites, plus an additional 75 new recipes that have been carefully sourced and selected by the author from some of her previous bestsellers. It means more fish, seafood and vegetarian/vegan favorites, as well as more whole-grain offerings – this is important as more and more people are eating vegetarian at least some of the time and are consistently looking for lighter and healthier options. People are also broadening the use of their slow cookers and often employing them for entertaining.
And, in a nod to the slow cooker’s humble beginnings, we’ve added more than a dozen sumptuous and tantalizing chili recipes, since nothing compares to chili prepared in a slow cooker. Every chapter has been revisited, updated and expanded.
Judith Finlayson believes strongly that eating is one of life’s greatest pleasures. As a food-writer and journalist, Judith has spent much of her life seeking out memorable food experiences. Her other best-selling cookbooks include The Healthy Slow Cooker, 175 Essential Slow Cooker Classics, The Complete Whole Grains Cookbook, and Delicious and Dependable Slow Cooker. She lives with her husband and daughter in Toronto. Judith also has 750 Best Appetizer Recipes releasing this Fall.
MY THOUGHTS
I received an advance copy of The 150 Best Slow Cooker Recipes Cookbook Second Edition. Chapters include Using Your Slow Cooker, Appetizers And Fondues, Soups, Beans Lentils And Chilies, Beef And Veal, Pork And Lamb, Poultry, Fish Seafood And Vegetarian Favorites, Grains And Sides, and Desserts. I really like that each chapter has an index, and that the book is written in a large and easy to read font. The recipes are easy to understand. Each recipe states what size slow cooker is needed right at the top of the recipe. Two things the book is missing. First – there are lots of photos in the book, but not every recipe contains one. I love recipes that contain photos, they not only let you know what a dish is supposed to look like but they make you anticipate the dish even more. Photos also help me determine which recipe I’m going to make. I’m more likely to try something that I can see looks good then something with no picture. Second. I wish the recipes contained cooking and prep time – these are invaluable to me when I’m looking at several recipes trying to decide which to make. Some of the recipes that I’m really looking forward to trying include Pasta E Fagioli, Beef And Sausage Chili, Hearty Carbonnade, Sausage Pie With Polenta Crust, Hearty Ribs With Rigatoni, Chicken N Dumplings, Slow Cooked Polenta, and Cranberry Pear Brown Betty.
The 150 Best Slow Cooker Recipes Cookbook Second Edition has a wide variety of recipes and would be great for anyone just starting to cook with a slow cooker or anyone that uses their slow cooker a lot.

Sounds like an interesting book. I just found an older version of it at the library, and have ordered it. Thanks for the review, Val.
