REVIEW – SodaStream – Bring Back Summer

When I first heard about SodaStream, I thought it was all about, well, soda. I had no idea the company has branched out into so many different drink variations. SodaStream now has tons of summery classics, like CountryTime Lemonade (Original, Sparkling Natural, Pink Lemonade, and Half&Half), Kool-aid variations (Grape, Tropical Punch, and Cherry), and Crystal Light flavors (Fruit Punch, Raspberry Lemonade, and Peach Iced Tea). I’m honestly not much of a soda drinker, but I do love flavored sparkling water so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these flavors! Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy summer flavors with the SodaStream!

When I opened up the SodaStream box, I felt a little overwhelmed. It looked complicated. I’m not great with complicated kitchen gadgets, so this worried me a little.

However, I glanced over the instruction manual which was very informative and noticed that there was only a few steps to set up the machine. Basically, you remove the back cover, screw in the carbonation tank, and put the cover back on. Easy enough!

Making the drinks was way easier than I thought it would be too. It literally just takes a minute at the most to carbonate the water and add your drink mix.

First, fill the SodaStream bottle to the fill line with tap water. At an angle, place the bottle in the SodaStream with the white nozzle inside the bottle. Gently push the bottle back, and press down on the top of the SodaStream until the LED indicator lights up the correct icon – one for low fizz, one for medium fizz, and one for high fizz. Your carbonated water is done!

Then, add your drink mix. Fill the cap of the mix to the fill line and pour into your bottle, at an angle. Replace the bottle cap and gently rock the bottle to mix the liquid.

Don’t forget about the many regular and diet flavored sodas available for the SodaStream, such as Cherry Cola, Cream Soda, Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Orange Mango, Dr. Pete, and many more. Though I’m actually not a huge soda drinker, I do love Orange soda, and SodaStream’s version was yummy! I asked my fiancé to test out the regular Cola. I refer to him as a “soda snob” because he’s a religious Coca-Cola drinker! Though he didn’t think it was comparable to his precious coke, he did think it tasted similar to some other off-brand colas he’s tried. It’s definitely a lot less calories, at only 35 calories per 8 oz.!
