Barbara’s is a company founded in 1971 by Barbara Jaffe when she was only 17! Barbara was inspired by healthy eating and wanted to make healthy food delicious. Barbara began with basic breads, and has since expanded the business to include cereals, snack bars, crackers, cookies, and cheese puffs. The Puffins cereal line was inspired by an employee who fell in love with puffins on a trip to Alaska. These cereals are wheat-free, stocked full of fiber, and have very little sugar per serving. Barbara’s has also added in Puffins Puffs with kids in mind – they are made with prebiotics!
I was sent samples of Puffins Original, Peanut Butter, and Honey Rice cereals. I love how healthy they are, yet they don’t seem like a typical ‘healthy’ food lacking in taste and texture. These cereals are all super-crunchy and left me feeling full after one serving. I personally consider them a perfect on-the-go snack for my 14-month-old. They are easy enough for him to feed himself, not too difficult to chew, and of course – healthy! They have quickly become a favorite breakfast snack of his.
