The O.O.T.W. girls are a new line of cute, low-tech electronic dolls from Blip Toys. Each girl comes complete with their own unique personality and fun, low-tech electronic function to match. The line debuted with 5 original O.O.T.W. girls: Astra, who has shining hair, Gigi, who giggles, Techno, who has a light-up dance party in her head, Vizi, who can see the future, and Flix, who projects movie magic from her pigtails!
The line is set to expand in Fall 2012 with more girls, pets, and accessories. To further the fun, all O.O.T.W. packages have a QR code to scan with a smartphone to take you on a virtual tour of all the dolls and their unique worlds! Your little girl can also visit OOTWGirls.com to learn more about each doll, play games, download free ringtones and wallpapers, read and submit jokes, and get a sneak peek at upcoming O.O.T.W. products.

MY OPINION
I received Techno, the adorable girl with a light-up dance party spinning in her head, for review. While the packaging says the dolls are aimed for ages 4+, I can see this as being a doll a toddler could still enjoy. There are no small parts to worry about, and little fingers can easily press the button on the front that triggers the spinning lights. The great thing about these dolls is they are just as attractive to older girls as well. My 7 year old is at the age where bright colors and Bratz dolls are ‘in’ and cutesy baby dolls are ‘out’. The O.O.T.W. girls are bright and colorful and wear trendy clothes like Bratz dolls, but in a much more kid-friendly way. These dolls appeal to me as a mom much more. The simplicity of the dolls is also a bonus: no little parts to get lost and have to search for!
Bottom line, the O.O.T.W. line is a good alternative to the many Barbie-style dolls out there. I am excited to see the expansions the line will have in the Fall. Best of all, each doll and pet is pretty inexpensive, retailing at $9.99, and accessories ranging from $12.99 – $19.99. They’ll also be easy to find as the line hits retailers such as Target, WalMart, Toys R Us, and Amazon. I will definitely be adding to my daughter’s collection as each piece comes out.
