When I attended the Kraft BlogEats conference last year I learned about a new product that they were working on. I had to keep it a secret because it wasn’t ready to be announced yet, but the product recently started becoming available in sores so I can tell you about Kraft Fresh Take.
ABOUT KRAFT FRESH TAKE
KRAFT Fresh Take is a meal kit that, in one bag, provides all the flavor and texture needed for a crispy and cheesy entrée with just five minutes of prep time. One package of KRAFT Fresh Take includes a special blend of natural cheeses, uniquely seasoned breadcrumbs, and inspiring recipes that can be used with any choice of chicken, pork, fish or beef.
MY THOUGHTS
I decided to use Kraft Fresh Take with chicken to make dinner, and I used the Southwest Three Cheese. You can use other meats as well such as pork and fish. It can also be used on sides like potatoes, or even noodles, basically just about anything you want to use it on.

The back of the package shows you one possible way of using Fresh Take, but you can use it in other ways as well.

Once you open the package you see that the contents are in one bag that has two compartments.

This is also where you find cooking instructions, including the recommended amounts of meat to use with the product. This is my one suggestion for improvement on the product – you don’t know how much meat you need until after you open the package. It’d be easier for people doing their grocery shopping to be able to look at the outside of the package and know how much meat to buy while they’re in the store.

Unlike other “shake” type products that I have used, I didn’t need a bag or other ingredients – everything I needed was included (except the meat of course). I was using chicken. Kraft Fresh Take is easy to use. By breaking the seal between the two compartments you get a large bag where you can mix the product with the meat that you’re using. For the chicken all you do is wet a piece of chicken, put it into the bag and shake to cover it.

Next you place the chicken onto a baking sheet.

After placing onto a baking sheet you bake. 2 pounds chicken needs to bake for 28-30 minutes.
(For those wondering, if you want to use pork you’ll need 2-2.5 pounds pork which will bake for 24-26 minutes. If you want to use fish you’ll need 1.5 pounds of fish which will bake for 13-18 minutes.)

Once the chicken is finished you take it out of the oven and serve with your favorite veggie and side. That’s it.
I really like that Fresh Take is super easy to use. I love that the product comes with the bag for “shaking”, this removes the need for using your own Ziploc or a mixing bowl. It also means there’s no need for much cleanup after prep. As far as the flavor goes, it was good and we liked it. RB liked that the Southwest Three Cheese we had wasn’t bland, he said it “has a little bit of a bite, a little hootzpah”. I don’t care for super spicy things, and I did agree with him but didn’t find the flavor to be overpoweringly spicy. The coating waas on thhe crispy side, and tasty, The chicken was very moist and tender. I really want to try the Italian Parmesan, and the Cheddar Jack & Bacon. I’ve been stalking my refrigerated aisle in my grocery store but these aren’t there just yet.
Kraft Fresh Take is available in six varieties:
- Southwest Three Cheese
- Italian Parmesan
- Rosemary & Roasted Garlic
- Cheddar jack & Bacon
- Savory Four Cheese
- Chili Lime & Panko
Kraft Fresh Take has a suggested retail price of $2.99.

Trying product today, looked interesting, but the extra receipts on inside of package are unreadable. I'm always will to try Kraft products, because they are usually excellent products.

Hope you enjoy! I wish more of the info from the inside of the package was on the outside, where you could see it before buying.

I tried this flavor today! I put the extra on top and loved the 'crunchy yum yums' that baked around the sides of the chicken.
