There are more then a couple of toys out there that promote what some parents consider to be poor body and/or self image. It’s great to learn that there are toys that encourage girls to be themselves while working to be healthy and active children is great. The Dream Big Toy Company strives to empower young girls with its motto “Dream Big and Go for It.” In June, they launched six Read & Play sets. They have recently been awarded the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio’s Platinum Award, Creative Child Magazine 2104 Toy of the Year Award, and Dr Toys 10 Best Toys of the Year. We received two of the sets and I asked contributing editor Lara for her thoughts.
We received M.C and Maya Read & play sets. The recommendation is 5+. Each doll comes with a backpack dressed up as her sport, a towel, and a book about her sport and facts about it. The dolls are plush which is nice for any little girl to carry around. MC is a dancer, and comes fully dressed to put on a show. A recently started dance class so she was excited to have a doll just like her. The book that comes with the set is very well made. It has a thicker paper which is nice so its harder for the pages to rip. MC’s book is a story about MC and her recital and how she has to remember all the dance steps and their names.
On some of the pages it has fun facts about different types of dance, definitions of words, and simple ballet moves. The last page of the book lists what they learned and some healthy tips. The doll and book are absolutely adorable and definitely would help with motivation on keep being active and no matter how hard something seems just keep practicing and you will get it. Maya is a girl learning gymnastics. She also learns you can’t change somethings about yourself. In this book I especially liked the way the word Impossible is broken down – it also spells I’m Possible. The Go Go Sports Girls Read & Play sets are great for all girls. It’s great to see toys encouraging young children to do things that are fun and good for their bodies, as well as learn something.
The other four sets are Cheerleader Girl Roxy, Runner Girl Ella, Soccer Girl Cassie, and Swimmer Girl Suzi. The Read & Play sets, as well as individual dolls and books, are available for purchase online.

Haha I'm sure my little sister would enjoy this. She's not much into sports yet but maybe this will get her into it. Thanks for sharing and happy holidays! :)

When I was little I always liked it when dolls had something about them I could relate to. These are adorable and if kiddo was still into those types of dolls I would snatch one up for her.

I see they have a Swimmer Girl. I have a Granddaughter just starting swimming class. What a special gift this would be to give her.
