I have a small fear of the grill. The outdoor bbq grill that is. I have a very healthy respect for anything that can kill burn me. You will never catch me lighting one, and it’s pretty rare to catch me using one. I leave that to RB. Problem is, he isn’t always in the mood.Plus, I won’t send him out there in nasty weather. George Foreman Grills are the perfect compromise for us. We had long since outgrown another indoor grill that we had so I was totally thrilled to receive the opportunity to try out the new George Foreman Evolve Grill.

The George Foreman Evolve Grill comes in three starter sets – Bake & Mini-Burger, Bake & Muffin, and Waffle. We received the Bake & Mini Burger.

About the George Foreman Evolve Bake & Mini-Burger Grill – Get the grill that lets you have an entire kitchen of versatility in just one compact appliance! The Evolve™ Grill • Bake • Mini-Burger starts with 4 plates – 2 grill plates, 1 deep-dish bake pan and 1 mini-burger insert – then lets you build your collection with up to 7 additional plates available. It’s the perfect grill for anyone looking to expand their healthy cooking menu without cluttering counters with a lot of extra appliances.

The grill can evolve and use up to eleven different cooking plates that will be available for purchase online:

  • Traditional Grill Plates
  • Waffle Plates
  • Omelet & Snack Plates
  • Deep-Dish Bake Pan
  • Shallow Griddle Pan
  • Muffin Pan Insert
  • Mini-Burger Insert
  • Steakhouse Cross-Hatch Top Plate

One of the best things about this grill is that you can adjust the temperature and the timer. Just decide what you’re making and set it accordingly. The controls are easy to use, they consist of up and down arrows. There is a built in countdown timer that you can set for up to 20 minutes. As different foods need different cooking times, they may also need different cooking surfaces. The interchangeable plates and the adjustable cooking surface angle make moving from one food to another a breeze.

The first thing we tried was grilled cheese. After all, that’s a no brainer, right? We were able to fit two grilled cheese sandwiches on the grill. They cooked very quickly, in a little more than four minutes. They were golden and gooey – just perfect. We didn’t need to butter or spray a pan and nothing stuck – nice! The waffle plate on the top gave the bread an interesting texture. Sorry, no pictures – the sandwiches were gobbled up while they were hot before I could get to my camera

We made some boneless chicken next. It cooked quickly. It was moist and tasty. A little stuck to the grill surface but it came off in the dishwasher.

The chicken went well so we decided to move on to new things. Sliders.

For my first batch I mixed the meat and then filled the slider forms on top of a plate. It looked like it would work.

George Foreman Evolve Uncooked Sliders

It didn’t. I attached the no cool touch handle (nice feature – very sturdy and comfortable) and moved the plate with the forms to the grill. Problem was, when I got it to the grill I didn’t have a way to transfer the forms without the meat falling out of the bottom. We decided it would probably work better if we filled the forms while they were on the grill.

Problem with this is the sliders didn’t all finish cooking at the same time.

Our last thought was to place the slider form on the grill before heating. That resulted in sliders that all cooked in the same time.

The sliders were tasty and fun. I loved the the grill drained off a lot of nasty fat, you can see some of it in the bottom right hand corner. It doesn’t just roll off, it slides down into a removable drip tray. That’s very nice indeed! The fat is much better off there in our bodies.

I’ve mentioned the plates a bunch of times. You may be wondering if they are easy to change. The answer is yes. Here’s a really short video showing you how.

The Evolve Grill has an 84 square inch cooking surface. I myself would like to see the grill available in a larger size for bigger families or entertaining.

The George Foreman Evolve Grill retails for $129.99 and is for purchase online. It’s a great value and a very versatile tool any kitchen would welcome.

Just received my grill and the top of the unit is warped so that the top plates cannot be secured. Only one side at a time will hook in. Why do all the vendors go the China to get cr-pp- electronic and heating appliances built????? It would be nice to put a few US citizens back to work and bolster our own economy. It's on its way back to QVC!!!!

I like the George Foreman Grills. We own one and use it regularly. I may end up getting this one at some point because of all it has to offer. But for now, I'm happy with the one we have.

I have to have one of these! I hate cooking, but I could learn to love it with something as simple as this.We had a George Foreman grill way back when, but it was a small one and we outgrew it. This thing looks awesome!
