ABOUT GENTLE NATURALS

Gentle Naturals™ Baby Therapeutics provides effective treatments for common baby ailments like stomach discomfort, teething, eczema and cradle cap. Their products include, but are not limited to, Eczema Relief Cream, Cradle Cap Treatment, and Eczema Relief Wash. These retail at several stores nationwide for about $4 – $8.

MY THOUGHTS

I received a sample of each of the above mentioned products for review.

Eczema Relief Cream: My daughter has been plagued with eczema since birth. She has always had rough, itchy spots randomly pop up on her body, especially in dry winter weather. Her most problematic spots are on the back of her legs, and aside from prescription lotions, I haven’t been able to find much that helps relieve the itch and burn. I had her use this product on her leg spots after her shower and right before bed. I checked the spots in the morning and was amazed at how much smoother her skin was in those areas. When I asked her if they felt better, I got a big, happy “Yes!” This made her skin so soft that I even use it on my 9 month old after his baths, even though he doesn’t have eczema. It works much better than any baby lotion I have tried.

Eczema Relief Wash: The same night I first tried the eczema cream, I had my daughter use this body wash in the shower. Normally, her skin gets dry and ashy very fast after drying off from her shower. This wash seemed to put an end to this issue. Her skin looked more hydrated than usual and certainly felt it as well. This paired with the Eczema Relief Cream is by far the most successful treatment we have used aside from prescription medications.

Cradle Cap Treatment: My daughter had cradle cap as a baby, and I always had to treat it the old-school way with baby oil and scraping the scales off with a comb. My son occasionally gets it pretty bad, so I was happy to try this product, though I wasn’t very optimistic because no treatments I had tried on my daughter ever worked besides the baby oil. I always hated that treatment, though, because of the greasy mess it left on her head that proved very difficult to wash out and the smell that went along with it. Gentle Naturals claims that this product is Non-Greasy and Fragrance free. I would have to disagree with both. It definitely left that oily feel in my son’s hair, and it actually smelled pretty awful – almost like vegetable oil. I had to wash his hair three times after using it to get the greasiness and smell out, and I could still smell it a bit even after that. However, it did work about the same as the baby oil treatment. The brush that comes with it was pretty pointless to me. I think the bristles were almost too soft to be able to remove cradle cap scales. Overall, I was disappointed with this product.
