REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – Wanchai Ferry Beef And Broccoli

We'd love it if you shared it!

Doesn’t it stink when you’re in the mood for Chinese food and noone else wants to order out? Or maybe not everyone in your house likes Chinese food. Or maybe you just can’t cook Chinese food well. (I can’t, see my egg foo young story if you doubt my word.) Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees are a great way to have authentic Chinese food in the comfort of your own home without having to make it from scratch.

The newest Wanchai Ferry flavor, Beef & Broccoli, is the first beef dish in their line of great-tasting, complete Chinese meals for two. Ready to serve in only 14 minutes, Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli comes with tender beef strips, and an assortment of Asian-style vegetables, including broccoli florets, red peppers and water chestnuts. It even includes rice and a rich brown sauce accented with soy and garlic for an authentic flavor experience. Beef & Broccoli, like the other Wanchai Ferry meals, contains no added MSG.

We received a sample of the Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli. We’d never tried Wanchai Ferry so RB and I were curious. The meal was super easy to make. The entrée comes with three packets – one with meat and vegetables, one with rice and one with sauce.

First you place the contents of the meat and vegetable packet into a frying pan and heat. A couple of minutes before that is finished you place the rice packet into the microwave for two minutes.

Then you add the contents of the sauce packet into the frying pan.

Put everything in the pan over your rice and you’re set.

We found the meal to look, smell and taste very authentic. We enjoyed it quite a bit. We both agreed that the portion size could be a bit larger, as the entrée is intended to feed two people. I’d like to see a little more sauce in the sauce packet, as we prefer our food mixed with rice rather than over it. This is definitely an item I’ll watch for sales on so that I can keep some in the freezer, to have as a quick meal or for when someone’s in the mood for Chinese.

Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees are available in grocery stores nationwide. Additional varieties include Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan Style Chicken, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein and Spicy Garlic Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken. The website has information on each of the varieties as well as tips for serving Wanchai Ferry summer meals.
