REVIEW – 4 Ingredients Cookbook

We'd love it if you shared it!

Sometimes I enjoy spending time concocting in the kitchen. Sometimes, after a long day of work, the last thing that I want to do is spend a long time in the kitchen preparing big extravagant meal. It’s on those nights that I want to make something simple, preferably with a limited number of ingredients. The cookbook 4 Ingredients looks like it might be a good source to turn to on those nights.

ABOUT 4 INGREDIENTS

It’s as easy as 1-2-3 . . . 4 Ingredients!

Imagine succulent Chicken, Butternut, and Chickpea Curry with brown rice, a light, palette-cleansing Orange, and Almond Salad, and a decadent serving of warm Flourless Chocolate Cake. If this sounds like the menu for an elaborate dinner party that requires hard-to-find ingredients and endless hours in the kitchen, think again!

Internationally bestselling authors Kim McCosker and Rachael Bermingham have created more than 400 quick, easy, and delicious recipes that only require four ingredients. Included are fantastic dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and entertaining, as well as meals specially designed for children, including lunchbox menus.

With 4 Ingredients, home chefs will learn how to:

  • Make weeknight family dinners simple and special.
  • Provide delicious, home-cooked meals and spend less money.
  • Cook with fewer utensils—1 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon, and 1 measuring cup!
  • Spend less time at the sink. Four ingredients for each dish means less cleanup!

Find out what home chefs all over the world have already discovered. 4 Ingredients is perfect for the busy, budget-conscious cook!

4 INGREDIENTS contains more than 400 recipes that range from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, and everything in between. From Antipasto Tarts, to Carrot & Coriander soup, to Apricot Chicken, to Tandoori Lamb, and Orange & Almond Cake, each recipe is delicious and most importantly, simple!

MY THOUGHTS

I received a copy of 4 Ingredients. Chapters include Breakfasts, Appetizers, Sauces & Salsas, Light Lunches, Sides, Mains, Desserts, For The Children, Drinks and Great Combination Meals. There’s also a chapter in the back containing useful tips on everything from cooking to cosmetics. The recipes are all straightforward and easy to understand. True to its name, none of the recipes require more than four ingredients. All ingredients used are regular foods you’d find in most kitchens. Two things missing in the cookbook that I would have found helpful are pictures (there are none) and prep and cooking time. The dishes I’m most looking forward to trying are Corn Dumplings, Pork & Bacon Wraps, Flourless Chocolate Cake and Apple Crumble. This cookbook would be ideal for someone who doesn’t know how to cook as well as people trying to move away from frozen meals.

I love the idea of four-ingredient meals, but fear that they'd have to be packaged items to keep it that simple! Also, I'm vegetarian and I know it's rare to find good veggie recipes anywhere.

No they don't have to be packaged items. There are about 10 recipes in the Vegetarian section.

Is that four main ones or everything including spices and seasonings?

No pictures? That is disappointing. I'm not a big cook and love to see pictures. Besides this, looks like the kind of cookbook for me. Love minimal ingredients.

No pictures. I love pictures in a cookbook, let's a person know if they're on track.
