I have two kids that are active and participate in sports. TJ runs track and cross country, plus he’s into biking and skateboarding. CJ does track events as part of the Special Olympics. TJ suffered dehydration once and CJ is easily affected by the heat. One thing I demand for both of them is that they drink plenty of beverages in the heat and as well as during sporting events. So the only question remaining is what drinks are good to give them.
Powerade has recently introduced Powerade Play, the first sports drink made for kids. It has 25% less sugar than the leading grown up sports drink. It helps replenish the four electrolytes lost in sweat – sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. The drink is enhanced with vitamins to support a healthy immune system and offers 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C, 20% of the daily value of Zinc and 20% of the daily value of B-vitamins B3, B5, B6 + B12. Powerade Play is available in four 100% natural flavors – Fruit Punch, Mixed Berry, Grape and Orange flavors.
We received samples of Powerade Play. CJ loves to drink anything “juice” like, including juice and sports drinks. I myself tried it and was surprised that it tasted like some juices and grown up sports drinks we were already familiar with. I would never have known that it had less sugar but appreciated knowing it when I gave it to CJ to drink. CJ enjoys juices and sports drinks in general and this one proved no different, he drank it up on our first hot day and told us it was yummy.
Powerade Play is appearing on store shelves nationwide now and retails for approximately $3.19 for a 6-pack of 12 ounce bottles. Packaging will include illustrations of partner athletes Ryan Howard, Chris Paul and Venus Williams.
