Pirates Booty Macaroni and Cheese

There’s something about pirate talk that makes me giggle. I’m sure I’m not the only one. There’s even a Talk Like A Pirate Day in September! It’s all just good, silly fun, just like a cheesy joke. Speaking of cheesy, Pirate’s Booty has launched a new product – Pirate’s Booty Mac & Cheese. It’s made with organic wheat pasta and real cheese, and contains no trans fats, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Pirate’s Booty Mac & Cheese comes in four varieties. Three are aged white cheddar (shells, anchors and regular shaped noodles) and one is mild cheddar (regular shaped noodles). It’s super easy to make. You boil the pasta, then add the powdered cheese, milk and butter. I wondered if the powdered cheese would be clumpy like some, or taste gritty like some. I was very happy to see that it blended very nicely, leaving no chunks. The creamy noodles have a rich and cheesy flavor.

We enjoyed the Pirate’s Booty Mac & Cheese so much as a side that I decided to try incorporating it into a meal. Check back tomorrow for the recipe!

And speaking of cheesy jokes, Pirate’s Booty wants to hear yours. To celebrate the launch of Pirate’s Booty Mac & Cheese, they’re holding a fun contest! There are daily prizes, and there’s a grand prize of a family trip for four to the Wisconsin Dells! You can enter by posting your cheesy joke on the Pirate’s Booty’s Facebook page, or by posting the joke on Twitter, Vine or Instagram with the hashtag #MacAndCheesyJoke and tag @PiratesBooty. The submission period is 6/9 – 7/14; and the public voting period from 7/17 – 7/24 where the top joke will be selected.

Pirates appeal to kids of many ages–surprized though with the trend to shaped noodles that the actual noodles weren’t pirate ships, etc.

I love to eat mac n cheese just by itself! When I was babysitting years ago, one mom I knew used to put peas into their mac n cheese for the kids to get their veggies with it! I thought that was a great idea!
