Cell phones are quickly becoming an accepted part of day to day life. I remember my first cell phone, it was a huge bag phone that weighted about eight pounds. It had one special feature – it was a mobile phone. Back then that was virtually unheard of. Tech evolved after that as it does and here we are today. Cell phones are more capable now than ever before, so much so that they can be overwhelming for some. At that time phones were pretty expensive, as was pricing since that was before family plans started becoming an option.
Had that happened today things might have been a bit simpler. There are family plans that make it affordable to add a phone without costing an arm and a leg. And, there are phones that don’t require a mortgage to buy or a college degree to operate, such as the Pantech Vybe.

I did some testing on a Pantech Vybe. I found it thick enough to feel sturdy without feeling like it weighed a pound or so. The textured back helps provide grip, because let’s face it – sometimes kids (and adults) drop things. Once powered on you will first notice that the display is a 3.2″ touchscreen, which makes it nice and easy to navigate the menus and move between apps. Even my hubby, who needs BIG icons, noticed that the icons were easy to identify on this phone.

There are three customizable homescreens where your child can organize their favorite bookmarks and apps in a way that works for them.
The phone also features something my oldest use to love – a slideout QWERTY keyboard. It’s a whole different feel to a touchscreen, but if you have a tween girl who does her nails she will likely appreciate how easy it is to press the keys. The side of the phone has a few buttons, including one dedicated that allows quick access to the 3 megapixel camera.

Speaking of the camera. If your child will be taking a lot of photos you should know that the phone can take an additional microSD card of up to 32gb where those pictures can be stored.
The Pantech Vybe is capable of doing many things including sending text messages and emails, surfing the web, playing games, taking and viewing pictures, playing music and of course making telephone calls. Tweens will love the ability to even add video and voice memos to their text messages!  The phone comes preloaded with some of the most popular social media apps like Facebook. This means if your child is old enough and you  let them create an account they don’t have to download anything, the app is there ready to use. If your child is doing more than one thing then they will find the Say-a-Command button very helpful, it lets you say what you want the phone to do.
