One-Stop Back-To-School Shopping At Kohl’s

I just received the official school calendar for the upcoming year. School starts back up here in New Jersey in just under three weeks. That means it’s time to take care of back-to-school shopping. I don’t know about you, but for me back-to-school shopping doesn’t mean new clothes to impress people. I’m not about impressing people. Back-to-school shopping in our house is done out of need. Quite simply, we need clothes to go to school. Generally, we do very little clothes shopping over the summer. We wear what we’ve got and we wear it until we wear it out or outgrow it. Shortly before school starts, we purchase what we need.

This year we needed quite a bit. My youngest grew over the summer, and has outgrown just about every piece of clothing he owns. For him, the top priority is pants. I don’t usually put him in jeans, because he has a hard time with buttons and zippers. Most of the time I keep him in nice athletic pants. Oddly enough, the only place I can find athletic pants that fit him well and that look nice are Kohl’s. When I find them I buy several pair, in different colors. After that I simply pick out some fun shirts that coordinate and we’re set.

My oldest is pretty easy to shop for. He wears shorts until it’s freezing, then he wears jeans. He’s one of those kids that just wears things until they’re worn out. Not only has he worn out his shorts, he’s lost weight because he’s been doing muay thai so they were falling off of him anyway. He finally informed me a few days ago he had one pair of shorts that wasn’t full of holes, and that pair was falling off of him.

With these things in mind, off to Kohl’s I went. Upon arriving at Kohl’s I went to the boys department. Before I could look for pants I had to see what was on super duper sale.

Score! There were several racks of clothes on clearance!

My youngest can be challenging with clothes. He is 14. But he likes younger looking things because often times they contain characters he likes. Kohl’s is one of the few stores where I am able to find clothes that isn’t too young or too old for him.  I found two shirts on the clearance rack that I knew my son would love.

Next up, the athletic pants. I found two pair in my youngest son’s size. One black with green, the other gray. I got both.

Now I needed to find shirts to go with the pants. I didn’t have to look far. I found a sale on all sorts of shirts and tees. I got two licensed character tees.

Then I found some more shirts (and shorts) on sale.

I got one pair of shorts and two more shirts. And some new underwear too.

After the boys department I headed over to the men’s department. I found two pair of the style shorts my oldest son likes best, so I got those.

It was time to head to the register, arms full. I spent $101 and made a hefty dent in the list of things I had to buy. Kohl’s carries everything that I needed for back-to-school for both boys so it was a one-stop shop, which is always a convenient time saver.

As if thanking me for my purchase, I got some Kohl’s cash when I went to the register. This means that I’ll be making another trip before school starts to try and finish the list off. For those unfamiliar, Kohl’s cash is a program that they run rather frequently. For every $50 dollars that you spend, you get another $10 back to spend on your next trip. When I got home I showed all of the clothes to my sons. They both loved their new clothes. My youngest felt the same way about his new clothes as I felt about the deals I found. This picture says it all.
