If shoppers can’t find your garage sale, you won’t sell anything, making your hard work preparing a waste. Here’s how to market your garage sale.

How To Market Your Garage Sale
In order to have a successful garage sale you need to let people know you’re having one. You need to market and advertise your garage sale. Here are some tips on how to market your garage sale, in order to increase the amount of traffic your garage sale receives.
Think about garage sales that you’ve been to. How did you find them? Maybe you saw a cardboard signs stapled to a telephone pole. That’s one of the most commonly used methods of advertising a garage sale. Place signs in high-traffic intersections within a few miles of the location of the sale. Use sturdy cardboard and big lettering. Make sure you remove your signs once the sale is over.
Add some balloons to your mailbox and place a sign on your lawn, in order to attract any neighbors or passersby.
Consider placing an ad in one or more of the local newspapers. The upside of newspaper advertising is that it reaches an audience of people looking for garage sales. The downside is that it can be pretty expensive.
Word of mouth. Tell your friends and family.
Ask neighbors to join in and make it a neighborhood event. The more homes participating the further the word will spread.
Social media. Using social media like Facebook is an easy way to spread the news of your garage sale to local friends, family and acquaintances.
Craigslist. This is possibly the most popular place to list a garage sale. It’s free to place an ad on Craigslist and you can include pictures.
Yard sale and garage sale sites and apps. There are a number of sites dedicated to finding garage sales and yard sales that are free to use. Some of these include YardSales.net, YardSaleSearch.com, GarageSalesTracker, GarageSaleFinder.com, GarageSaleHunter.com, and GSalr.com. Many of these sites also have an app, some with a sale finder or route map.

I tend to only participate in garage sales when the whole neighborhood has one. It is hit or miss on those days.

I live in a neighborhood where you can only have a yard sale twice a year. Luckily because we wait so long to have one, everyone is ready to shop!
