Maple Bacon Cupcakes
Maple Bacon Cupcakes. Just the words make you drool a little, don’t they? I mean, bacon. Need I say more? If you’re a fan of combining textures and flavors, you’re going to love these cupcakes. The combination of the sweet maple taste with the salty bacon flavor make these delicious treats a perfect fall treat! Here’s how to make them.
This recipe makes approximately 15 cupcakes.
Equipment Needed
- hand mixer OR stand mixer
- 2x cupcake pans
- cupcake pan liners
- large mixing bowl
- measuring cup
- measuring spoons
- large piping bag with star tip
- medium ice cream scoop
- cooling rack
Ingredients
Cake Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tbsp pure maple extract
Maple Frosting Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pure maple extract
- 3-5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- 12 crispy bacon slices (finely chopped)
- 12 slices of bacon, crumbled
Topping Ingredients
- crumbled bacon
- maple syrup
Instructions
Cupcake Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees f.
Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
Combine all the ingredients for the cupcakes in a large mixing bowl and use a hand mixer to mix until combined. (You can use a stand mixer if you prefer.)
Scoop the cupcake batter into the liners, filling each liner about ⅔ full.
Bake in the preheated oven for 21 minutes.
Remove and set aside on a cooling rack to cool.
Frosting Instructions
Place the butter, powdered sugar, maple extract, and heavy whipping cream into a large mixing bowl and beat together until combined, with the mixture being smooth and stiff. (You can use a stand mixer if you prefer.)
Scoop 1 cup into the piping bag and set aside.
Decorating Instructions
Use the ice cream scooper to scoop some frosting.
Lightly tap the ice cream scooper onto the counter to get the frosting to smooth out.
Scoop the frosting onto the cupcakes.
Use a butterknife to smooth the frosting into a thick disk.
Completely coat the frosting in the crumbled bacon.
Using the piping bag to frost a dollop of frosting onto the center of the bacon coated frosting.
Sprinkle some more crumbled bacon and drizzle with the maple syrup.
Serve and enjoy!
