I have often looked at cakes and other desserts that were decorated with fondant and marveled at how pretty they were. It;s something I know nothing about working with. It’s also something I’ve always wanted to try but never have because I’d heard somewhere along the line that it was difficult.Which is why I accepted the offer to review this book.
Chapters include:
- Materials and Equipment
- Recipes
- Chapter three: Buttercream
- Preparing and Covering cakes
- Working with Frosting
- Working with Chocolate
- Working with Fondant
- Working with Gum Paste
- Working with Marzipan
- Working with Royal Icing
The recipes and tutorials in here are wonderfully put together. There is no prep time but that’s totally understandable since it’s understood that this type of thing takes some time, and how much time it takes for each person might be different. There are tons of photos in the book to take you step by step through the project of your choice. Every page has one or more photos, which is great to help you understand what to do as well as provide inspiration. Everything is so easy to understand, which is refreshing if you’re like me and don’t know the first thing about the topic.
This book is incredible. It is so chock full of information on fondant and other decorating materials! This book is far more then a cookbook, it’s a resource book that you’ll want to keep in your kitchen for a long time to come. It’s suitable for folks like me that have never worked with fondant as well as people that have and can use some additional ideas and techniques.

I have never worked with fondant before. I would be giving this to my niece if I won. She does cakes & she has made her own fondant from scratch.
