I came home this afternoon and after a short while turned on the computer. Shortly after the internet went down. I waited a bit and checked again and it was still down. Interestingly, both incoming and outgoing email (which I get through POP in Thunderbird) continued to work. I called FIOS tech support and after troubleshooting everything I’d already troubleshot (is that a word?) they told me that my ethernet cable was bad. Problem with that is that email is still coming and going so I disagree. If only my Dad weren’t stuck in Northern New Jersey right now (they broke down on their way to upstate New York this afternoon), I know he’d have been able to fix it. So tomorrow I’ll pick up another cable just in order to prove them wrong. Stuff getting done tonight = FAIL. I’m posting this at my parents while the dogs are out taking their constitutional.
