Hurricane Sandy Aftermath – It Turns Out Hurricanes Are Not Romantic

We'd love it if you shared it!

I live In the same neighborhood I grew up in. As an older teen I recall a time where a hurricane was headed our way. At that time I had a crazy crush on a boy that lived a few houses up the street. Upon being notified a bad storm was heading our way, my family accepted his families offer to shelter in their home. That sounded about his romantic as can be to my teenage self. We all stayed there for one night and had a blast. We stayed up all night, talked, ate and play games and I even had my first sample of a few drinks like Sambuca and something else. It seemed like such a romantic time, riding out a storm with a boy I loved. When the time came to go home I wished we could stay forever.

Fast forward thirty years to present day. Hurricane Sandy plowed through our area of New Jersey almost a week ago. We still have no heat or power. Hubby is here. I have discovered There is nothing remotely romantic about this. We live each other but are starting to get on each others nerves i think. We’re cold. we’re cranky. we’re snippy. We look scary and smell even worse.

It’s a good thing we didn’t stay at that boys house indefinitely way back when. I never would’ve wanted him to see me this way.

Our prayers are with you. We hope your power and water get back on soon. Why isn't Washington helping you guys out better? It's a shame and a travesty.
