I often have a few jars of pasta sauce on hand. They are easy to use and very convenient for me when I’m cooking on a particularly busy day. The thing with many jarred sauces is that they often need some adapting in order to get a certain flavor. Even when a jarred sauce tastes good, it isn’t the same as a homemade sauce.

I recently heard of Hoboken Farms Big Pasta Sauces and was excited to receive some samples to try. For those unfamiliar, Hoboken Farms is a line of locally-crafted jarred pasta sauces made right here in the region I live in on the East coast. Their line of Big Pasta Sauces was born as a part of their farmer’s market heritage and is served at over 30 farmers markets across NY and NJ. Their sauce is known for having a homemade flavor while only using simple ingredients.

There are currently three varieties of Hoboken Farms Big Pasta Sauce:

BIG RED Marinara – chunky red sauce balanced by lots and lots and lots of pure olive oil, plus the perfect amount of garlic and onion.
BIG BOSS Vodka – plum tomatoes, heavy cream, parmesan, romano, a pinch of red pepper – and the perfect amount of filtered vodka added at the exactly right time.
NEW! BIG BASIL Sauce – the same base as BIG RED Marinara with 10x the fresh basil.

I decided to use each of the different varieties in different dishes where the sauce would provide most or all of the flavor.

One-Pot Chicken Penne Alla Vodka Recipe For Ninja 3-in-1 Cooking System From Val's Kitchen

For the BIG BOSS Vodka sauce, I made a One-Pot Chicken Penne Alla Vodka. Making it as a one-pot dish in the Ninja meant that all of the sauce got absorbed into the food. The flavor was delicious. I didn’t use a single spice in cooking, allowing the Vodka Sauce to do all of the work. The dish was a hit.

For the BIG BASIL sauce, I made a One-Pot Chicken Parm And Spaghetti dish. All of the sauces including this one are very thick and chunky sauce, and you can see the tomatoes right there. If you enjoy the flavor of basil in your dishes then this sauce is definitely for you.

For the BIG RED Marinara I made One-Pot Spaghetti And Meatballs. This was actually my favorite of not only the sauces but also the three dishes. The spaghetti became totally infused with the flavor of the sauce and the homemade meatballs were quite content. I use a lot of marinara sauce and this one had an incredible flavor that needed no doctoring. I was not surprised to learn that BIG RED was named Best Marinara Sauce in the country by the Wall Street Journal.

All Hoboken Farms Sauces (as well as their meats, cheeses, sauces, dressings, stocks, soups, and smoothies) are gluten-free. The company prides themselves on using only the freshest ingredients, which are personally hand-selected for freshness.

I love trying out new pasta sauces and marinara sauces. I bet these have an real Italian authenticity to them.

I’d love to try the Basil one. We always have pasta sauce on hand, too. It can be used in so many different dishes!

I love finding new pasta sauces! I love a good vodka sauce, so I know I will eat it up. However, I am 100% in love with their jar labels- I love classic trucks

The Hoboken Farms Big Pasta Sauces all sound DELICIOUS but I’d love to try the Tomato Basil. I love strong flavors with my lasagna. 🙂
