Grape Caterpillar Skewers are a perfect kids snack! Making and eating them is a fun way to encourage early counting skills in young children.

Grape Caterpillar Skewers
We tell our kids they shouldn’t play with their food, right? Today I have a fun snack to share that does involve plying with the food, but in a good way. Grape Caterpillar Skewers are a super cute snack that kids will love. If you have young kids, not only is this a great snack, but it’s also a great way to teach or encourage early counting skills for your young children. Here’s how to make them.
This recipe makes 6 servings and can easily be doubled or even tripled.

Equipment Needed
Ingredients
- 60 green grapes
- 12 edible candy eyes
- icing (any color)

Instructions
Lay out 6 skewers. If you are doubling the recipe, lay out 12 skewers and double the remainder of the ingredients.
Start by choosing 6 grapes to make the heads of the snakes. Be sure to choose grapes that are the best shape for making the snake. Using round grapes won’t be nearly as visually impactful as using a more oval or oblong grape.
Choose 9 more grapes to create the body of one snake.
Place the 9 grapes on to a skewer lengthwise.

Create the snake’s head by placing one of the 6 head grapes that you chose onto the end of the skewer.
Repeat this process in order to create the remaining 5 grape snakes.
Place a small dab of the icing onto the back of each candy eye.
Place two of the eyes onto each head grape.

Serve and enjoy!

Kids of all ages will love these grape caterpillars! These caterpillar skewers are easy to make. They’re perfect for a backyard party or group meeting, or anytime you want to serve a fun snack.
