I am online a lot. I do a lot of different things online, but one of the things I don’t do is direct sales. I have encountered ecommerce many times, and have certainly done my fair share of online shopping and buying. But I’ve never been on the selling side. I came across some tips concerning ecommerce marketing tools that outlined the steps some take in order to decide what marketing tools to use. I am sharing them here with you, with permission.
What Ecommerce Marketing Tools Should I Use?
If there is one thing that there is no shortage of, it’s online marketing tools. There are as many marketing tools out there as there are ecommerce websites and website owners. It’s the sheer number of marketing tools that are available out there than makes having a marketing plan necessary. Your marketing plan gives your efforts a direction and helps you get the most out of every marketing dollar spent.
In order to know what marketing tools to use, you need to answer a few questions about your business and your goals. These include:
Why Should People Buy From You?
The first question that you need to ask yourself is what are you offering customers that makes your solution better than the competition. For example, do you sell the same things that others sell, but you do it at a lower cost? Are you offering a unique solution that can’t be found anywhere else? You offer the same product and services as others and do so at the same price or even more, but your website offers a user experience that no other company can offer? Whatever your angle, you need to emphasize this in your marketing campaign. This is what sets you apart from the others and encourages customers to buy from you.To Market Well, What Do You Have to Do?
Next, for your marketing campaign to be considered effective, it needs to address a specific aspect of landing more sales. Do you need to bring more customers to your site? Or are you getting enough traffic, but none of them are buying? Each of these scenarios represents a specific marketing challenge. For Each Primary Marketing Challenge, Comprehensively List All Available Tools
Now that you have a specific goal, it’s time to look through the marketing toolkit to find the right solutions that will achieve the results you want. For example, if you are trying to land more traffic, you could use some of the following tools to bring more people to your site:SEO
- Pay-per-click ads
- Social media engagement
- Affiliate marketing
- Direct Mail and Email Mailers
- Online Contests with Giveaways
- Referral marketing
And these are just a few of your options. You don’t need to use them all. It’s important to select a few tools that you are familiar with doing and then carry them out. It’s best to focus your marketing dollars on doing a few things right rather than a bunch of things wrong.
When it comes to marketing your ecommerce website, it is best to start your campaign with a plan of attack and then execute. It will ensure that you give your tools the best possible chance at success.

I haven't really. I had one pay per click thing once but it was really pretty useless. i don't think I don't think I'd ever do it again.
