My oldest loves chocolate. Well, to be honest all four of us do. We all also like cookies. soft cookies are a favorite, particularly for my oldest. I’ve been on a cake mix crinkle cookie kick lately (just in case you hadn’t noticced), and I decided to make a really chocolatey cookie just for my son. Here’s how I make them.
Double Chocolate Chip Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies
The recipe makes 18-24 cookies, depending on how large you make the cookies. My batch made 24 nicely sized cookies.

- 2 cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Alternatively, you could use a silicone baking mat.
- ice cream scoop or cookie scoop
- wire cooling rack
- spatula
- mixing bowl
- pot holders
Ingredients
- 15.25 oz box of Devil’s Food cake mix
- 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup oil (I used vegetable)
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 f.
Place cake mix, eggs and oil in a mixing bowl and combine thoroughly.
Line the cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Place the powered sugar into a smaller bowl.
Form balls with the dough. (I sometimes use a cookie dough scoop or an ice cream scoop, or if I can’t get that quickly I have also used a plastic medicine cup.)
Place each ball into the powdered sugar and rotate to coat completely.
Place the balls onto the cookie sheet.
Bake for 9-10 minutes.
Let sit on the cooling rack for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy!

This is one of my favourite cookies of all time. So many happy childhood memories associated with them! I usually make them from scratch; haven’t tried using cake mix though it’s something I’d def try (who can say no to devil’s food cake??)
Scratch is always tasty but these are so wonderfully quick and simple.
